Climate change demands action on all fronts. From politicians to individuals, we are all feeling the pressure to adapt to its effects. That's why IFAT Munich is dedicating May 16 to the "Day of resilient municipalities". 🌍💚 In cooperation with the DVGW Deutscher Verein des Gas- und Wasserfaches, the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), and the VKU - Verband kommunaler Unternehmen e.V. as well as municipal umbrella organizations, we will be highlighting the key role of local authorities in building resilience to climate change. In addition to informative presentations and expert panels on the Blue Stage in Hall B2, we offer practical solutions for a sustainable future in guided tours. As a scientist at Running Tide, I wanted to share the incredible progress we've made in developing innovative methods for scaling up cultivation of macroalgae. Our work not only advances scientific understanding but also plays a crucial role in carbon sequestration, contributing to the fight against climate change. One of our key initiatives has been to produce macroalgae spores at scale for seeding thousands of tons of terrestrial biomass, which will then be sunk to enhance carbon sequestration. This production process has been the primary focus in Alda, the Akranes facility, where a team of scientists and technicians has been working tirelessly to refine and optimize our methods. The results have been promising, and we are excited to continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible in this field.
