Political activism on LinkedIn? 😶 I see most people don't find it acceptable, because LI is seen as a safe heaven that stays out of politics. This gives you a chance to both concentrate on your professional development as well as avoid triggering other people and being triggered yourself by politically sensitive topics. But today I still want to share a few words about volunteering experience of mine for a human rights protection organisation for three reasons: 1️⃣ It is a part of my professional development: the so called "interllectual volunteering" is a part of my personal and professional development, because when I volunteer within my expertise, it helps both me and the cause. 2️⃣ It may become an inspiration for those who were always in doubt about supporting a certain cause that they saw as potentially controversial or too politically charged. 3️⃣ It may help my foreign friends learn some info about the actual situation in my country because the project that I support aims to collect and spread the information about anti-war and other political data that is rarely available at all, let alone in English. So, I've been volunteering for OVD-Info since 2021. This is a human rights supporting project that aims to ensure no one is left alone without legal protection even in the most authoritarian regime possible. I've been translating and consulting this project in terms of their internationally available texts and their international representation. It is still safe to volunteer for such kind of projects and to donate too. So, if you're not indifferent to prosecution of political activists even though you are not the one to publicly protest against a huge dictatorial system, please consider supporting those who do it for all of us 💔 Thank you for reading this and I would very much appreciate any comments about your experience in volunteering and social/political activism 🕊 #civilactivism #politicalactivism #volunteering #ovdinfo

Next up in our policy highlights: civic engagement! We believe leveraging existing social services and supports fostering social connectedness at the local and community level will have a role in reducing the prevalence of social isolation and loneliness. Specifically, civic engagement should be prioritized, which includes supporting individuals to be engaged in activities within their community, the development of leadership skills, and social ties, trust, and cooperation between community members, community-based organizations, and government agencies.
