Sales Hiring is like Fishing series continues... The single biggest hidden costs to a mid-market P&L are bad hires and mediocre sales teams. 1. Identify your ideal target (like the Amberjack in pic). 2. Choose a lure that will attract your ideal target. (Write the ideal ad) 3. Cast the lure where your target will see it. 4. Present the lure in an attractive way that causes a genetic response. 5. Bring the target to the boat without spooking, overpowering, or under powering the retrieve. (This is Interviewing Process) 6. Check your rules and guidelines for legal or illegal size (Disqualify) 7. Onboarding must be preplanned, intentional, and thorough. Most mid-market company leaders tend to offload sales hiring to someone who has not hired many sales positions. They use the traditional method for sales hiring, and it just doesn’t work. Sales roles are not like any other role, so a unique sales-specific process must be utilized to effectively select, onboard, and keep GOATs, not Ghosts. Join us next week, May 15th, for Ghost and GOATs to make your next catch picture worthy and erase the Ghost from your P&L. https://lnkd.in/dzFue_xr #saleshiring #salesleaders #ceos #hrrecruitment #salesworkshop #goodselling

Here's an important step in the hiring process that will reveal a lot about your sales candidate: If you're close to making a hiring decision on a salesperson, take them out for lunch or dinner. Then, watch how they treat the wait staff, including the busboy. If they don't treat them with respect and politeness, know that is exactly how they will treat your customers. #salesmanagement #job #hiring

Hiring a sales rep is a great topic and here is a overview from John (JD) Dean. We often see Founders, who are not experienced at hiring sales reps, look for the wrong things in an interview. Reps who do not perform well in their roles are often great at interviews - plenty of practice. Don't hire to your Hollywood vision of a sales rep - they are wrong for you. Look for the things JD mentioned in the video - business curious, ask great questions, listen, looking for next steps. Not, and I repeat, not the rep who talks the most. #founders #salesleadership #salesframework #pamice https://lnkd.in/guci7pnb

What’s the biggest mistake I’ve made? Trusting David Benioff and D.B. Weiss not to ruin Game of Thrones. This is why I have trust issues. What’s the biggest mistake I’ve made in sales hiring? Ruling someone out of a sales role immediately because they lacked sales experience. Check out this sneak peek clip of Between Two Hires with David Cook as he spills the tea on his experience making this mistake and what he learned from it. LIKE if you can relate or COMMENT with the biggest you’ve made hiring salespeople. #saleshiring #salesrecruiting #hiringmistakes #gameofthronesblewit #betweentwohires

Hiring the right salesperson can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. It’s a delicate balance of skill, experience, and the elusive ‘fit’ for your company culture. Get it right, and you unlock a treasure trove of revenue and growth. Get it wrong, and you’re left with the costly aftermath of a hiring disaster. https://ow.ly/8r3150RQNgE

Account Managers (Farmers) & Sales Managers (Hunters) When times are good, account managers are your bread and butter, they keep your customers happy, they bring in work, it's a well oiled machine, like a farm. But in a rough market and a downturn. You need hunters. Sales people who can sniff out a deal and make things happen. Two very different skillsets and a completely different competency interview process to ensure you find out which type of person you are hiring. Whats your thoughts?
