Thailand Successfully Uplifts ICCA Rankings, Report Says The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) announced the release of its Country and City Rankings Report for 2023 during IMEX Frankfurt 2024. The results show Thailand jumped 6 places in one year, from the World’s 32nd in 2022 to 26th in 2023! The report encapsulates the data of approximately 10,000 conventions held throughout 2023 across various regions worldwide. In summary, the Asian Region stands out at the top alongside Europe and America, followed by Latin America and Oceania. As the host of 143 ICCA-qualified conventions, Thailand has markedly elevated its standing in the global meetings landscape, securing the 26th position worldwide, 6th in the APAC region, and 2nd in ASEAN. On cities level, Bangkok has ascended to the top 15 worldwide with 88 meetings, while Chiang Mai climbed 80 places to the world’s 122nd, a result of doubling its conventions from the year before. The report also indicates that Thailand's other two major MICE cities—Phuket and Pattaya—continually mark their places in the global meetings arena. As the national bureau, TCEB continues its work with the entirety of Thailand’s conventions ecosystem and leverages its strong international partnerships to ensure the country's emergence as a high-value destination on the global stage. This year, #Porto has risen to the 23rd spot in the global meetings industry, hosting 68 major events and proving its status as a top meeting destination. It also advanced from 22nd to 18th in Europe, becoming the second favorite among non-capital cities, but the number one destination among all cities that belong to the EU CVB Network. This recognition is a testament to Porto's vibrant, dynamic environment and its growing appeal in the global meetings industry. #Braga, #Guimarães, and #Matosinhos have seen significant jumps in their standings, with Braga soaring 117 places. These cities are emerging as competitive players, demonstrating robust capabilities in hosting international events. Thailand MICE Confidence Index Survey 3rd quarter of 2024 (July - September 2024) This survey aims to gather valuable insights to generate the Thailand MICE Confidence Index. Your participation will contribute to a comprehensive analysis of the current sentiment within the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry in Thailand. The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) is dedicated to fostering growth and promotion within the MICE industry. To achieve this, we've developed the Thailand MICE Confidence Index. This index will be distributed to private sector MICE operators, industry associations, relevant government authorities, and other stakeholders. Participation in this quarterly survey is crucial for effective planning, monitoring industry health, and ultimately strengthening Thailand's MICE sector. We encourage participation from MICE operators, private sector businesses involved in MICE activities, and relevant government organizations. The ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) has released its 2023 Country and City Rankings for hosting international events. 💡 We took a closer look at the Top 40 Ranking of the #2023GDSIndex alongside the #ICCA Top 40 City Rankings, and we noticed a pattern. Ten cities (in no particular order) appear in both lists: #Gothenburg, Sweden #Oslo, Norway #Copenhagen, Denmark #Helsinki, Finland #Stockholm, Sweden #Barcelona, Spain #Brussels, Belgium #Montreal, Canada #Sydney, Australia #Bangkok, Thailand  💪 It is encouraging to see cities leading in both hosting #InternationalMeetings and advancing sustainability efforts. This alignment emphasises the consistency of these cities in hosting events and underscores their significance in the #globalevents landscape. Summer is flying by ✈. Are you ready to get back to work? 📣 Here is the message from our Chapter's President Véronique Holveck about what was done by our Chapter and what's coming up. 1️⃣-Can you highlight the main projects done by our Chapter in Q1 & Q2 ?   All the commitments that I announced in my “January Chapter President Message” have been fulfilled The main actions to be noted are our joint organization of the hosted buyer program at the #IMEX trade fair in #Frankfurt with high qualified buyers from #USA, #LATAM and #Europe. And a fam trip in #Switzerland with our loyal CSR partner, the rail company TGV Lyria, and active members. It should also be noted that as planned, a second CSR webinar was organized as was the case in November 2023 but this time in partnership with another European chapter (MPI Belgium - Luxembourg Chapter)   2️⃣-What are the new partnerships signed in Q1 & Q2 2024? Last February, I signed a new partnership with 2 well known players in the MICE industry : #TendanceNomad and Heavent Paris. MPI France Switzerland will be an official partner and exhibitor at the new trade show IMDA (International MICE Destinations Area) at the heart of the Europe’s largest event trade show. Last April and for the first time, the MPI France Switzerland chapter participated in the Annual Study consolidated by COACH OMNIUM and 1001 Salles PRO. Through the participation of our active members who responded massively to MPI's quarterly MICE “Meetings Outlook” barometer, MPI France Switzerland was able to share its feedback during a press presentation on the evolution of business tourism in 2023 and event trends in 2024.   3️⃣-What are the events coming up in the next six months? We will have the honor of organizing at a trade show the first conference dedicated to the results of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on the MICE sector. During this conference at the Pure Meetings & Events Fair, we will also discuss the first trends in the impact of these Games on the meetings industry. I am also pleased to have been selected to be one of the next speakers at a conference on a MICE barometer at the IFTM show. This barometer is consolidated by Kactus which offers a balanced and representative panel that includes both key accounts and mid-caps (35,000 corporate companies). For Key Accounts 50 companies were listed, 10 of which belong to the CAC 40 to be included in this consolidated and complete survey. At last, our chapter will exhibit on the IMDA Edition at Heavent Paris. Together with the press partner, I will co-sign the editorial and the special issue of the magazine Tendance Nomad will be distributed to all visitors. The expected audience is 22,000 participants. Developing our chapter throughout Europe is 1 of my objectives.
