“Make sure you keep the meat slicer clean” That’s what every Deli manager at Woolworths or Coles would be telling their staff. Why, ➡️ food safety/hygiene is important ➡️ clean slicer reduces chance of injury ➡️ food presented well looks better. That’s all important, so what message does the staff take from this? The meat slicer must be clean! That’s why their backs are always turned to the counter. That’s why you may not be noticed or acknowledged when you’re waiting for your cuts of meat. It’s not the fault of the manager to push a safety agenda, but many people think in a binary way. Meaning, we need to keep the slicer clean INSTEAD of serving customers. But the answer is to keep the meat slicer clean AND keep serving customers. Sometimes the message that’s more pressing can be taken to replace the message that’s enduring (like service). Are there any messages that get delivered which if thought in a binary way could REPLACE needing to keep service to a standard? #serviceculture #serviceexcellence #customerservice #leadership #businessbook #allin

Where's the best fast-food fry? Send recommendations, please. Having had McDonald's and Wendy's recently on a road trip...Wendy's fries now > McDonald's fries. I could turn this into a traditional LinkedIn post about how this is actually a super relevant business thing; Wendy's has had to innovate whereas McDonald's has maybe taken its position as the top creator of fries for granted... ...but those posts are dumb. What's important is finding the best fast-food fry.
