Last week was a whirlwind for Inclusion Nation! Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles - including a photo shoot at the Walt Disney Concert Hall - our first exhibit booth at the NALP Annual Education Conference, and many powerful and impactful conversations all week long. I couldn't be more grateful for the privilege of connecting with so many amazing folks, just like you! Inclusion Nation is #thriving. Thriving at work matters to me. It is the core of what I talk about for a living. Thriving at work means that we are succeeding professionally and finding #purpose, #growth, and #fulfillment. When we thrive in our workplace, we can experience a profound sense of meaning, which translates into tangible benefits that enhance both personal and organizational success. What’s it like working at Alliance?   Well it’s different to one of the big corporates.   To begin with, you are not treated as a resource to be squeezed. It's a less formal work setting where people are encouraged to speak their mind freely and have a laugh. It’s more relaxed and friendly. In fact we often find people start working together at Alliance and then choose to hang out together outside of work.   But the best evidence we have that our team like working at Alliance is that they keep coming back. That’s right, we’ve had people leave, naturally, but they often come back – choosing a better work/life balance and stating how much they have missed Alliance’s relaxed and supportive culture.   To those that have rejoined us after a stint at the multidisciplinary firms, Welcome Home we say.

No lies detected!!! As my first year at Ulteig - Transportation approaches, I would like to share my thoughts on why Ulteig is such a fantastic workplace. First off, the culture here is fantastic. Reflecting on the diverse tapestry of roles within any organization, from the humble sweeper to the esteemed director, it's evident that each Jon, each individual, brings their unique essence, purpose, and value to the table. It's easy to overlook the significance of every role, but upon closer examination, it becomes clear that each cog in the machinery serves a crucial function, ultimately driving the collective success of the enterprise. At the grassroots level, the sweeper, often unnoticed but indispensable, ensures that our workspaces are clean, safe, and conducive to productivity. Their diligence not only maintains physical cleanliness but also fosters an environment of order and efficiency. Without them, the smooth operation of daily activities would undoubtedly be compromised. Moving up the hierarchical ladder, we encounter the myriad roles that form the backbone of any organization. From administrative assistants to middle managers, each Jon fulfills specific responsibilities that contribute to the broader objectives of their departments and the company as a whole. These individuals are the linchpins of coordination, communication, and execution, ensuring that strategies are translated into actionable plans and results. And then, at the apex of the organizational pyramid, we find the directors—the visionaries, strategists, and decision-makers who steer the ship towards its long-term goals. Their leadership, foresight, and ability to navigate through challenges are instrumental in charting the course for success. But even at this lofty perch, they remain cognizant of the interconnectedness of roles and the inherent value in every Jon's contribution. Beyond the titles and distinctions, there lies a common thread that unites every member of the workforce—the innate drive to provide for themselves and their loved ones. Regardless of the position they hold, each individual endeavors to put food on the table, to secure a better future for themselves and their families. This shared aspiration binds us together, transcending differences in status or prestige. In essence, the moto of every job, from sweeper to director, is to bring sustenance to the table—not merely in the literal sense but also in nurturing the livelihoods, aspirations, and dreams of those who depend on us. Reflecting on my journey through various workplaces, I’m continually reminded of the profound impact that seemingly small gestures can have on building a sense of community and belonging. A practice that stands out in its simplicity and significance is the act of greeting colleagues with a ‘hello’ as we go about our day. This gesture, though small, plays a crucial role in fostering an environment where everyone feels seen and acknowledged. This belief in the power of acknowledgment was instilled in me during my very first job at Club Med, where daily, we encountered hundreds of customers. Our manager, the ‘chef du village,’ offered a piece of advice that has profoundly influenced my approach to interactions ever since. He said, “I don’t care how many times a day and in how many languages you do it; I don’t expect you to remember every customer. What is important is making sure not a single one feels forgotten. Just say hello and smile.” This lesson has stayed with me, highlighting the importance of making every individual feel valued and included, regardless of the setting. It’s a reminder that through our daily actions, no matter how small, we have the power to contribute to a more inclusive and welcoming environment. My walk along the Hudson River in New York City showed me what makes America uniquely successful - its diversity. The mix of people, cultures, and ideas creates a vibrant energy that drives success. I saw musicians playing beautiful music, food vendors selling diverse cuisines, and people from all backgrounds enjoying each other's company. This scene got me thinking about our company's culture. What if our workplace reflected this diversity? Imagine team meetings where each person brings a different perspective, like those musicians creating harmony together. Our brainstorming sessions could be as varied as the food vendor offerings, combining ideas to create something truly new and exciting. A culture of inclusion would allow everyone to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts. This openness could lead to solutions we might never have considered otherwise. This inclusivity could lead to solutions we might never have considered otherwise. The idea is to create a welcoming environment while unlocking a wellspring of creativity and innovation.
