Do you often have a ton of tasks on your to-do list that you don't get to? Do you push them back to the next day? Then the next? Jessica Colston, MS, PCC says that when this happens, get your list of undone to-dos at the end of the week take and assign the tasks any of the 4 Ds: 💡𝗗𝗼 𝗶𝘁. Schedule time the following week to complete the task. 💡𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘁. Decide that the task is something you 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 need to do. If not, delete it from your to-do list. 💡𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝘁. Delegate it to a team member who might have capacity and interest. 💡𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘁. If the task isn't urgent or important, defer it to a later time. To avoid being overly stressed, try to keep your to-do list as small as possible. It's been shown that people who make to-do lists tend to get more done. However, if your to-do list is too long, it can be counterproductive. Try to keep your to-do list to about three important tasks per day.

How to say no to random tasks when your plate is full? (You don’t actually have to say it) Have your to-do list ready. Then explain to your manager or the task provider the following: 1. The tasks that you have. 2. The time it takes you to finish them. Ideally, by doing that you are giving more perspective to them as to what you are working on and the time it takes to finish each task. In that way, you are also expressing your willingness to help but you can't do that because of time constraints. I wish I knew this earlier. Hope you found it helpful.

I have been Anti To-Do list for years ! We overestimate what can be done in a day and underestimate what can be done in a year. If you need to write a to do list it's because all of the previous days not done tasks are feeling overwhelming So how do you think your going to feel when you make a massive list? I've even heard of people putting things they have done on a tondo list so they can feel like their getting somewhere! If you must write a list Make it very short. (do you really need it?) And only what absolutely WILL be done. Time planning and task completion trumps overwhelming to do lists every time
