Not only did my little wood engraving, 'Woof', get selected for this year's Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, but the entire edition of 50 prints was sold out before the exhibition even opened to the public! Blimey! I'm now thinking of producing a second edition but this time in red..... (Photos are from Varnishing Day which is traditionally when the artists get to see where they've been hung)

Just had a very successful exhibition with Shere Arts, held in the picturesque village of Shere in Surrey over the past two weekends (11/12 & 18/19 May 2024). Footfall was excellent with artwork flying off the displays. I'm thrilled that the following paintings and linoprints/wood engravings have found new homes! My next exhibition will be for three weeks starting on 15 July 2024 at Art & Grind, Guildford's new art gallery and coffeehouse (165 High Street, GU1 3AJ) where I'll be showing my dramatic fruit 'n' veg paintings. Come along!

Seeing as how I mentioned the smaller fruit 'n' veg paintings in my last post, I reckon I might as well show them to you as well! All of these are about 22cm x 17cm:

Starting to add more flowers to my portfolio - still love the fruit 'n' veg (in fact, I've recently done some little ones) but am currently exploring dramatic blooms! This is 'Chrysanthemum', acrylics on a 20"x20" deep sided canvas, currently available on my website -

Continuing the print run of my Moonrise at Stonehenge wood engraving that I put to one side way back in the autumn. I can only do a few at a time (maybe as few as three) as the handburnishing kills my arm, and the ink starts filling up the little marks so I have to stop, clean the block and leave it to dry out until the next session! Still I’ll do a few more of these, then concentrate on painting again as I have a submission deadline coming up at the end of the month and that exhibition never seems to select my printmaking but love my paintings! #art #printmaking #woodengraving #stonehenge #ancientbritain #archaeology #ancientwiltshire #wiltshire

It's been a tumultuous 2021 so let's hope next year is a little easier on us all. Despite everything I've managed to produce some artwork this year, including a side foray into watercolour mono prints of Ancient British monuments. Before I was an artist I was an archaeologist so this is a subject very close to my heart! Best of luck to everyone in 2022! #artwork #artist
