Will the day come when we have no reason to commemorate International Women's Day? When equality is the norm and not the exception? When gender inequality will live on only in the history books? In a spirit of conviction and hope, we believe that day will indeed come. But until it doesn’t, we must celebrate it by sharing our example of a company that cultivates inclusion, gender pay equality and does not discriminate based on gender. We believe that by spreading the word, inspiring others and raising awareness, we take a step forward that brings us closer to a world where women are truly equal. Join us in celebrating International Women's Day... until the day we don't have to, anymore. Spread the word, share, get involved, inform yourself (and others) by visiting the International Women's Day 2024 (internationalwomensday.com) initiative and using #InternationalWomensDay #WomensDay #CelebrateEquality #GenderEquity" #InspiringWomen - Será que chegará o dia em que não teremos motivos para assinalar o Dia Internacional da Mulher?

English: Fantastic report launched by UNDP and UNWomen Wwk, providing us with a more comprehensive picture of progress in women's and girls' human development. This is achieved through the creation of the Women's Empowerment Index (WEI) and the Global Gender Parity Index (GGPI), which serve as twin indices for measuring gender parity and women’s empowerment. These indices reveal some areas that require improvement in policies related to health, education, empowerment, work-life balance, women's participation, and violence against them. 5 Years ago, in 2019, we conducted a survey on Gender Equality in Indian Maritime Industry. Just 17% women were on the board of directors then. We would love to see how much this has changed now. In partnership with Consulate General of the Netherlands in Mumbai, and with the support of Director General of Shipping, Government of India, we seek to identify areas that require attention and develop initiatives that promote diversity and inclusivity within the maritime sector. Companies interested in participating in the survey can access the respective survey links below: - Employers: https://lnkd.in/ggHKi83c Female Seafarers: https://lnkd.in/gwz9tcWR Female Employees on Shore: https://lnkd.in/g92-4EUw Your contributions will assist in driving positive changes within the industry and creating a more supportive environment for all maritime professionals. #MaritimeSheEO #WomenInMaritime #GenderDiversity

According to a study from Spain’s Center of Sociological Investigations (CIS after its Spanish acronym), 44.1% of men in Spain believe that gender equality initiatives in favor of women has gone so far that there is now discrimination against men. 32% of women surveyed agreed. The same study also found that women in Spain continue to do more of the housework and much more of the childcare work than men do on average. There’s a lot to unpack in this study, and we can’t ignore that gender equality and gender issues in general have been in the headlines in Spain in the past year, adding a context that makes a direct comparison to a global context more challenging and nuanced, but the general takeaway is this: There is clearly a growing perception from some men that discussions of equity threaten to take away their power or status. This comes up again and again. Whether true or imagined, the answer can’t be “too bad,” because men do hold power, so an adverse reaction to equity is dangerous for efforts to promote equity and DEI initiatives. What can be done? Everyone in the field of DEI (practitioners, vendors, advocates, and folks with a general passion for it — by the way, Spanish has a great word for this last group which would be “aficionados”) needs to be explaining that these initiatives are not about making anyone lose anything. They’re actually about being inclusive and, inasmuch as there is a threat, about making people earn what they have in the workplace, which is actually ideal for corporations. That needs to be the core message because without that, we’ll continue to see results like this and they’ll continue getting worse. Link to the article (which is in Spanish so use google translate if you can’t read it): Un 44,1% de los hombres cree que la promoción de la igualdad ha llegado tan lejos que ahora se les discrimina a ellos - https://lnkd.in/e-nHWFRW
