Honouring Survivors, their families and communities, the history and legacy of residential schools as vital components of the reconciliation process. Reconciliation, acknowledging the past so that history doesn’t repeat itself, is the responsibility of every Canadian. #TruthandReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #nationaldayoftruthandreconciliation
Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, when we recognize the ongoing trauma caused by residential schools, remember those who never returned home, and the survivors, their families and communities. It is also an opportunity to commit to the process of truth, reconciliation and justice with First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada. This year, we learned about the stories of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people and welcomed Amy Desjarlais, founder of EarthTALKER, from Wasauksing First Nation. She hosted a live webinar on practices to foster Indigenous inclusion for our people. We’ve also made available to our staff “Introduction to Understanding Indigenous Perspectives in Canada”, a course offered by the First Nation’s University of Canada. Join us in exploring the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences and stories of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gEjNtba

Goog morning everyone! ☀ Today I would like to share that I was invited by Folke Bernadotte Academy – Swedish agency for peace, security and development (FBA), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) to take part in the sounding board of youth engaged in civil society. We will be working in the development of a guidance note for the intersections between the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) and Climate, Peace and Security (CPS) agendas. The guidance note aims to clarify the interlinkages between YPS and CPS by unpacking how young people lead and contribute to efforts to mitigate and build resilience to the impact of climate change on peace and security. Furthermore, it aims to provide guidance to practitioners on how to apply a youth lens on CPS programming. As part of the process, a multi-stakeholder sounding board on Youth, Peace, Climate and Security has been set up. The sounding board is composed of young civil society representatives from diverse settings affected by climate-related security risks, researchers, representatives of regional organizations, and global experts on YPS and CPS respectively. The role of the sounding board is to contribute to ensuring the quality, legitimacy, and relevance of the guidance note by sharing experiences and insights and providing input on the document. 📃 #youth #peace #security #climatechange #unitednations

Research (knowledge) translation matters. To ensure our research has impact for our stakeholders, academics need dedicated time to work creatively to support the communities we serve. Our moral injury project brings together so many experts from various countries to better support children’s understanding of their parent’s #moralinjury. Thanks Manna Institute for the time to be creative in this space.
