"Revelation" is deceitful, this is not research presented but your opinion. For employees who have to commute some distance, anecdotal evidence says employees enjoy one less day of commuting and commutes help to destress before arriving back at home. An extra day off allows for another day to spend with family, friends, hobbies, etc. More time in the day on a 10 hr schedule to complete work assignments leads to greater employee satisfaction. Considering both means to consider both. Not compare to present why 5/8 is better. Each have pros and cons and it would've been fair to present a neutral opinion.

I would much prefer 4x10 with the option of overtime on the 5th day if available. A 4x10 could also allow me to take a 2nd part time gig during my 3 day break period if I wanted to. With commute time occurrences cut bt 1/5 workers actually end up with a net increase of time at home to spend with family. The longer your wasted time commuting, the more time at home you gain!

I would much prefer the 4x10 over the 5x10 to 6x12 that I currently work......

I currently work a 4x10 schedule, I don't have any of the issues mentioned in the article. I still have time for band concerts and other school events, with time to relax afterwards.
