War has been taking a devastating toll on women in #Gaza, #Sudan, #Yemen and in a growing number of places around the world. Armed conflicts are often started, led and perpetrated by men, while women in war zones pay a disproportionate price. Op-ed by Michelle Nunn: World Economic Forum https://ow.ly/sXtQ50SrN5X

“We rally around our Caribbean community as they endure the effects of Hurricane Beryl - a historic Category 4 storm that made landfall earlier today. Beryl is the strongest hurricane to ever form in the Atlantic in the month of June. And as the storm makes its way west, more people will be impacted. In partnership with Caribbean Gender Alliance, CARE is coordinating closely with locally-led, women-focused civil society organizations in Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago to assess the needs of the most vulnerable (especially women and girls) and provide emergency relief as needed.” - Nadella Oya, Chair of the Caribbean Gender Alliance and Jonathan Arogeti, CARE Humanitarian Planning Manager

In a small southern Ukrainian town, birds have built nests in the large holes recently made in the walls of an apartment building. The town is Luch. The holes were made from shrapnel. In Spring 2022, the front line passed through the town, and active fighting lasted for months. Today, not a single house survives undamaged.
