Ship in Køge Harbor at Risk of Capsizing After Fire Incident A ship in Køge Harbor is listing dangerously close to capsizing following a fire that erupted onboard Tuesday afternoon, April 30, 2024. Visual evidence captured on Wednesday morning shows the vessel gradually inclining towards the quay. However, the tilt is slightly reduced compared to the previous night. The decrease in tilt is attributed to the removal of water and debris from the vessel, a process initiated as part of firefighting efforts conducted throughout Tuesday evening and into the early hours of Wednesday. Authorities have cordoned off the area for investigation, with the cause of the fire yet to be determined. The vessel in question, the cargo ship RIX MUNTE was transporting plastic and metal waste and had arrived at Køge Harbor from Helsingborg, Sweden, earlier on Tuesday. The fire generated hazardous smoke, prompting police to issue a warning for residents to stay indoors and seal windows and doors.
