💜Kudos to Melissa Hurrington and her speech at the CFO Leadership Council. It was on point!💜 I attended the CFO Leadership Council, a few weeks ago, and I was surrounded by amazing women - who've shattered ceilings, silenced doubts, and defied the odds. Born to immigrant parents with nothing but dreams and determination, I understand the relentless drive to create a better life. So many people there inspired me to keep doing more, to keep being more (sometimes it can be exhausting). Why should we keep carving the path? We're not just making our mark; we're creating a legacy for our daughters and generations of women to come. Erik Nakamura and I had a conversation, where he shared his story, about his mom. She had her seat at the table, as a CFO, years ago. He expressed, how amazing it is to see other women at the table, during the CFO Leadership Council conference. Side note: Erik told me, I need to start sharing my experience and journey, because of my energy. My response, "It's scary!" Instead of being fearful, I take it as a challenge now. (I'm better at challenges). I realize, I cannot be silent hence why I am posting. Daughters and women who inspire to do more, can learn from my fears, failures, challenges and success. 😊 Sandra Clarke and I had a conversation about her journey and how she defied the odds and carved paths - I loved her response, "just go for it (it was another word, but I'll keep it more business appropriate) and get what you want." Basically, do not let society tell us what we can or cannot do. It's up to us and find people who will advocate for our experience. The conference was a revelation, a powerful reminder that our roles transcend numbers. We are leaders, strategists, and catalysts for change. To the incredible CFOs I met and connected with, thank you for the energy, the wisdom, and the fire. Together, we're not just shaping the future of finance; we're igniting a spark in the hearts of those who dare to dream. Holidays thoughts : Top leaders aren't necessarily the best leaders. Here are the facts: ✔️ only 15 percent of CEOs at Fortune 500 companies are women, ✔️ there are just four Black executives leading Fortune 500 companies. Corporate ladder is simply not a fair game. That’s why being a good leader doesn't automatically make you a top leader. The main reason to lead shouldn't be for recognition, but simply because it's the right thing to do.
