Have you ever wondered, "How does Ketamine Work?" Scientists have been actively studying this treatment and its incredible effects on the brain. The use of ketamine started some time ago when emergency responders administered it to patients in ambulances who were either experiencing suicidal thoughts or were on the brink of attempting suicide. The surprising discovery was that many of these patients felt much calmer and, even more astonishingly, their suicidal thoughts seemed to diminish significantly. This led researchers to dig deeper into the potential of ketamine therapy for individuals facing mental health challenges. Learn more from our blog post! #ketaminetherapy #relief #happiness

Transforming Workplace Culture With Stress and Burnout Prevention Programs With Corporate Wellness Services | Wellness Speaker
“It seems that the very virtues our culture rewards in women-agreeability, extreme selflessness, and suppression of anger-may predispose us to chronic illness and disease.” - Maytal Eyal, Ph.D. Wow 🤯 A very intriguing article where women’s health, mental health and overall wellness collide. They go into detail of how anger and self-silencing can be lethal for women of color. With it being Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, this article is so fitting. I think it also raises questions of how can we utilize wellness practices to address these concerns? I think this goes hand in hand with the topics discussed during our women leadership workshops. What are you thoughts about this? #mentalhealth #womenshealth #wellness #healthandwellness

🍄 Magic Medicine: The #Psilocybin Experience Changes Lives 🍄 #Depression and #Anxiety in #Cancer Patients Psilocybin has shown substantial and sustained decreases in depression and anxiety among patients with life-threatening cancer, improving #mood, #qualityoflife, and attitudes towards #death (Griffiths et al., 2016). Similar findings were reported in another trial where psilocybin led to rapid and sustained improvements in depression and anxiety (Ross et al., 2016). 🍄 Treatment-Resistant and "normal" #Depression Psilocybin, combined with psychological support, has been effective in reducing depressive symptoms in patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD), providing long-term benefits (Carhart-Harris et al., 2017), (Lyons & Carhart-Harris, 2018). 🍄 Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (#OCD) A case report indicated that psilocybin helped reduce core OCD symptoms, highlighting the role of serotonergic mechanisms (Wilcox, 2014). 🍄 Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) An ongoing study is investigating the safety and efficacy of psilocybin-assisted therapy for veterans with severe, treatment-resistant PTSD (Davis et al., 2023). 🍄 #Alcohol Use Disorder & #addiction Psilocybin-assisted therapy has shown promise in reducing alcohol intake, with ongoing studies exploring its efficacy (Jensen et al., 2022). 🍄 Existential and End-of-Life Distress Long-term follow-up studies indicate that psilocybin can provide lasting relief from existential distress and improve #spirituality and well-being in #cancer patients (Agin-Liebes et al., 2020), (Swift et al., 2017). 🍄 Why Psilocybin Helps So Many Conditions?? Psilocybin assists with various mental health conditions primarily due to its impact on the brain's Default Mode Network (DMN). The DMN is associated with self-referential thoughts and the sense of #ego. Psilocybin reduces the activity of the DMN, leading to decreased #rumination and ego dissolution, which can facilitate profound emotional and cognitive #insights. This "reset" effect helps individuals reframe negative thought patterns and traumatic memories, providing therapeutic benefits across different conditions. 🍄 Benefits for Non-Symptomatic Individuals For individuals without specific mental health issues, psilocybin can enhance #creativity, #emotionalwellbeing, and #spiritualgrowth and awareness. It can foster a sense of interconnectedness and reduce authoritarian tendencies, which contributes to greater empathy and open-mindedness (Lyons & Carhart-Harris, 2018). 🍄 Applications in Various Settings Psilocybin is being used in #leadershipdevelopment and luxury spas to enhance #personalgrowth, deeper relaxation and overall well-being. Its ability to lower the DMN (#ego) activity is pivotal in how individuals respond to #reality and trauma triggers, making it a valuable tool in various therapeutic and developmental contexts. A new phase 1 study looking at #psychedelictherapy (in the form of #psilocybin) for #anorexia was published in Nature. I'm naturally drawn to the qualitative data, which is fascinating and exciting: 90% endorsed feeling more positive about life endeavors 80% endorsed the experience as one of the top five most meaningful of life 70% reported experiencing a shift in personal identity and overall quality of life. Notably, 90% of participants reported that one dosing session was not enough. This is such a new and novel approach. Can we treat #eatingdisorders and other mental health conditions by increasing positive feelings about our lives? Having meaningful experiences in a container of safety and trust? #psychedelictherapy holds promise for those suffering with eating disorders, which is on the rise among youth. https://lnkd.in/gGkuurFe
