China's Share of Tanker Newbuild Orderbook Surges A recent surge in orders for crude oil and product tankers has significantly bolstered China's presence in the global tanker orderbook. This trend has proven beneficial for Chinese shipyards, now capturing a nearly 65% share of the market. Conversely, South Korea's market share has seen a decline. This growth is reflected in the newbuilding to in-service tanker fleet ratio, which has more than doubled over the past year, reaching 10%, as reported by Lloyd's List https://lnkd.in/eJG-_3hF While the VLCC orderbook has seen growth, the orderbook-to-fleet ratio remains lower than the tanker fleet average at just 6%.
