Wayne Gretzky's Trade to LA! Craig Simpson Breaks down one of the biggest trades in NHL History In this segment from Joe Tilley's Great Canadian Sports Show, NHL player Craig Simpson reflects on the significant moment when Wayne Gretzky was traded from the Edmonton Oilers. Simpson describes the surreal experience of being with Gretzky in Los Angeles when the trade occurred in August 1988. He emphasizes Gretzky's impact as a teammate and person and discusses the challenges of dealing with rumors and the abrupt change in the team dynamic. Simpson recounts the day of the trade, mentioning a phone call from Bruce McNall, the Kings' owner, confirming the deal. The conversation touches on the shock and life-changing nature of the trade for both the NHL and Gretzky. The discussion also addresses the subsequent season, where the Oilers faced the Kings in the Stanley Cup Final. Simpson admits that the team wasn't adequately prepared to face Gretzky and the Kings, resulting in a loss. He acknowledges that they didn't approach Gretzky the same way they would other great players and reflects on the missed opportunity to close the series when they were up three to one in the first round against the Kings. The clip concludes with Simpson expressing the uniqueness and impact of the Gretzky trade on the NHL and the changing landscape of hockey. #GreatCanadianSportsShow #CraigSimpson #WayneGretzky #EdmontonOilers #LosAngelesKings #NHLTrade #Gretzky #HockeyHistory #TeammateTales #LifeChanging #StanleyCup #MissedOpportunities #TheGreatGretzkyTrade #Hockey #McNallConfirmsTheDeal #FromOilersToKings #Changing #Edmonton #Facing #UnpreparedForGreatness #Kings #Throne #LearningFromTheTrade #Missing #Landscape

Why Switzerland and Sweden are comparable to the NHL's top 5 Tonight, the Edmonton Oilers will play Game 4 of the #2024StanleyCupFinal, and a loss will extend Canada's winless streak to 32 years. The superstitious will call it a curse, and financiers specializing in professional hockey (we're talking about me) will call it a logical outcome. The #Alberta #EdmontonOilers and #CalgaryFlames take-home pay for the 2023-24 season was $79,902,403 versus #Florida State's $92,994,207. And that extra $13 million makes the difference—Florida teams have made the #StanleyCup finals for five seasons in a row and are likely to take home their third trophy in five years this year. #SwitzerlandvsAlberta Take-home pay $: 83,358,321 vs 82,910,824 Population millions: 8.77 vs 4.36 GDP 2024 Billions $: 870 vs 277 Largest arena: 17,031 vs 19,289 By the way, the total Take-home pay for the province of Alberta, including the Calgary Wranglers team, in the 2023/24 season was $82,910,824 - the sixth highest among states and provinces with #NHL teams. According to this indicator, Alberta also surpasses Switzerland. Take-home pay in the 2023/24 season in the National League was $69,248,233, and if you add $14,110,088 Take-home pay in the Swiss League we get $83,358,321. In the 2023/24 season, the Swiss team Genève-Servette Hockey Club won the #ChampionsHockeyLeague, making it the strongest team in Europe. This is Switzerland's second club trophy after the ZSC Lions won the #CHL in 2009. #SwedenvsPennsylvania Take-home pay $: 92,929,815 vs 96,579,997 Population million: 10.49 vs 12.97 GDP 2024 billions $: 591.2 vs 965.067 Largest arena: 13,850 vs 19,538 Pennsylvania is represented in the NHL by two successful franchises: the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers, who brought the state seven Stanley Cups. In the 2023/24 season, the total Take-home pay was 82,751,491. To this cost should be added the 14,827,506 net salary of the AHL teams Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and the Reading Royals of the ECHL. Thus, the net salary of the six teams in Pennsylvania in the 2023/24 season was $96,579,997. Among European countries, Sweden can be compared with Pennsylvania. With a smaller population and GDP, the country spends about the same amount on Take-home pay as Pennsylvania. Since 2006, Swedish teams have won the #EuropeanTrophy and Champions Hockey League ten times. At the same time, the Svenska Hockeyligan AB is one of the strongest in the world, and its annual take-home pay is approximately €64,750,000. In the case of Sweden, where a transitional championship system operates, it is necessary to mention HockeyAllsvenskan. Take-home pay in it is approximately €16,625,000. According to my calculations, the Take-home pay in the Hockeyettan AB for the 2023/24 season was €5,147,399, which collectively makes Sweden almost equal to Pennsylvania in terms of net income for players of all three tiers, with a total cost of approximately $93 mln.

Next Level Athletics Group client Liam Duquette put on a show for th Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Junior Hockey League this past weekend. The heavily favoured Capitals travelled to Yarmouth to take on the Mariners in games three and four of their best-of-seven series which was tied 1-1. The Mariners were in a strong position to dictate how the remaining games unfolded in the series, however Summerside showed up and went to work. Rookie Liam Duquette was a big factor in Summerside winning games three and four 4-1 and 3-1 respectfully. In game three, Duquette set the tone for game four in the dying moments by taking on Mariners forward Jared Pitman in a scrap as tensions continued to rise on the ice sheet. Duquette made out quite well in that fight, as seen in one of the videos attached to this post. In game four, with Duquette well aware that he would have to answer the bell for his antics in game three, did just that only thirty-one seconds in by burying a lose puck in front of the net to give the Capitals an early 1-0 lead. See his goal in the other video below. Liam continues to prove everyone wrong as his unprecedented late-blooming development has seen him rise from the NSU16 hockey league all the way to being a key bottom six forward on one of the top Junior A teams in the country, in less than a calendar year. Liam's ability to adapt to a new role, ability to contribute either through his physicality, solid defensive play, and elite offensive IQ, is what has fuelled this rise in opportunity, and what will likely fuel his continued success as he climbs the ranks in the hockey world. I have been very vocal about how I started representing Liam, and how he really found me if I'm being honest. I pinched myself a lot recently regarding Dukes, especially watching him become a big playoff player last weekend. For all inquiries regarding Liam and all NLA clients, please contact me: [email protected]. #hockey #nextlevel #jra #summerside #capitals #mhl #qmjhl #prospect

Golf Coach | Sponsorships & Partnerships | Helping business professionals USE GOLF to perform at a HIGHER LEVEL 📈
There’s a saying in hockey that your goalie is only as good as the team in front of him. The best goalies in the world have a 92% save percentage, but if that percentage drops just 1% to 91% they give up roughly 24 more goals in a year. 24 goals can be the difference in making the playoffs or hitting the golf course early in the NHL. It sounds like it’s all up to the goalie, but when you dig into it, save percentages are directly relational to how many shots a team blocks. The more shots a team blocks, the higher the goalie’s save percentage is. If you could do something as simple as blocking a shot to make someone on your team 1% better would you do it?

Why is Austria a European ice hockey top-8 When comparing hockey in Europe and the NHL, many people think it is much more prevalent in North America than in Europe. Of course, hockey is a top sport in Canada. However, only five Canadian provinces are represented in the NHL, and the remaining teams are in the United States. And when you need to list the US states in which hockey is the primary sport, a completely different perspective opens up for discussion. #AustriaVSOhio Take-home pay $: <15,000,000 vs 38,615,079 Population millions: 9.04 vs 11.76 GDP 2024 Billions $: 470.9 vs 830.6 Largest arena: 16,000 vs 18,144 Austria has made confident steps in hockey development over the past ten years. Creating the international ICE Hockey League with eight teams from Austria brought professional hockey in this country to a new level. And with the seven AlpsHL teams, Austria's Take-home pay for the 2023/24 season was just under $15 million, corresponding to the CBJ Take-home pay for the 2007/08 season, which was $13,025,499. The strength of Austrian hockey is the Red Bull Academy, where future players of Red Bull Salzburg and Munich are trained. The highest achievements at the club level are Red Bull Salzburg winning the 2010 European Cup, VEU Feldkirch winning in 1998 European Hockey League, and the EC KAC final in 1969 IIHF European Cup. Speaking of infrastructure, it is worth noting that in 2005, Austria hosted the World Championship for the seventh time in history at the 16 thousandth Wiener Stadthalle. Ohio is the NHL region comparable to Austria in terms of population, GDP and hockey infrastructure. The only caveat is that Ohio has broken away from Austria regarding net income growth by over 15 years. Ohio is represented in the NHL by the Columbus Blue Jackets, founded in 2000. Over the 24 years, the franchise could not win the Stanley Cup and did not win either a conference or a division. This is mainly due to the financial indicator - in the 2023/24 season, CBJ did not reach the salary upstairs limit, and the Blue Jackets take-home pay was $38,615,079
