A smart take from a smart group of people. We've done the research on what consumers value. The order is as follows: energy safety, energy reliability, energy affordability and energy sustainability. Canadian Climate Institute / Institut climatique du Canada starts at the wrong end of the consumer value spectrum.

Math is badly off. Last I checked, Canada’s GHG emissions are ~ 1.6% of global GHG emissions (making Canada a top 10 emitter globally). With O&G production accounting for ~25% of Canada’s emissions, that would translate into a 0.4% reduction in global emissions (not 0.004% — although 0.004 does equal 0.4%) — which is actually pretty significant in global terms.
#BREAKING Ottawa wants to sacrifice our economy on the altar of climate hysteria. Alberta's message is the same. Grow #production while leading #Canada in emissions reduction. Please share this important information. #energy #oilandgas #energysecurity #cdnpoli #abpoli

A handy reminder that 20% is just the tip of the iceberg for heat network potential in the UK. I seem to remember when working on the National Heat Map (sadly no longer maintained by DESNZ) with Joshua Thumim we calculated that sufficient heat demand density existed to make heat networks the most economical solution to meet 46% of demand in England. That was about 12 years ago (and Josh will hopefully correct me if I’ve misremembered that number) and since then demand has increased, heat networks have become more efficient, and the potential can only have grown. Perhaps 20% is a realistic target for 2050, but with long-lasting infrastructure like heat networks let’s remember that there will (hopefully!) be a 2051, and so on, and the true potential for heat networks to slash the cost of living, slash emissions, balance the grid, create jobs, utilise urban resources, etc, etc, extend to areas that support around 84% of the UK population.
You probably know that the Climate Change Committee has estimated that around 20% of the UK's heat demand needs to be met by heat networks. But did you know that EU funded research by Aalborg University put the estimate closer to 35%? Either way, for towns and cities across the UK, heat networks will be a major feature for heat decarbonisation. #heatnetworks #districtheating #energyefficiency #DHC #netzero #cleanheat

🌍Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, such as through variations in the solar cycle. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. #Climate_Change

NOAA's CPC is predicting an 83% chance that we will be in an ENSO neutral state during April-May. So what does that look like for rainfall (compared to normal)? Below depicts how neutral conditions impacted rainfall during previous similar states, and is the very best prediction possible for April-May 2024. Need factual #climatesecurity answers?
