We had the honour of being an event sponsor for the Black Innovation in STEM (BIS) Summit: Testing the Future, presented by Nobellum last weekend. Held during pre-Collision weekend to showcase innovative startups and companies coming together to discuss the solutions of tomorrow, the summit featured fireside chats with Frank Baylis from Baylis Medical Technologies, Lisa Zarzeczny from Elevate; and Casey Lau and Katie Bolger from Web Summit, among many notable figures in tech. There were also periods to pitch, covering ideas to growth, and network. As a reminder, Nobellum’s mandate is to launch 100 Black-owned businesses in STEM by 2025. The BIS Summits brought together entrepreneurs, corporations, investors, and STEM professionals to further that goal. #CBCC #Collision24 #BIZ #DiverseVoices

Over 80% of Nigerians have ideas but could not bring them to life. 😯 Specifically, over 70% of tech entrepreneurs cannot bring their ideas to life. 🤔 Read this: Almost every day, I meet young Nigerians who tell me of one business idea they have, but don't have the resources and funds to bring the idea to life. In fact, currently, there is a young lady who is asking for funds to start a business. As for me, I'm still trying to manage myself. But on a serious note, This is one issue a lot of potential entrepreneurs are facing: ☑️Lack of funds ☑️No community ☑️No mentorship ☑️Lack of access to investors You have an idea, but because of a lack of funding, you can't bring it to light. People might consider you lazy or someone who doesn't have a vision. What they don't know is that deep down, you have a business idea, but access to financial assistance or funds is what you lack. Getting people to believe in your idea and buy into your concept can be very challenging. It can be very painful. 🤦🏾♂️ Nobellum considered this and decided to host the Black Innovation in STEM Summit. Our aim is to gather black tech entrepreneurs from around the world and equip them in order for them to get the ground running for the success of their business. Events like this can: 🔰bring you closer to foreign investors, 🔰give you room to pitch your ideas to potential partners 🔰provide funding opportunities, 🔰offer mentorship, 🔰bring you closer to a community of other tech entrepreneurs. All these will help you achieve your dream of starting your tech business. It is next month, June 15th. If you can go to Canada, good. But if you are in Africa like me, you can register virtually and still receive the same access to the numerous opportunities. ✌🏽️ Additionally, there will be a raffle draw for virtual participants to win a 12-month LinkedIn Premium subscription, and I know you know what it's going to do for your brand. Isn't that beautiful? 🤗 The Afro-Fashion Showdown during the BIS Summit is delivered in partnership with Black Men’s Style X Nobellum increase the presence of African Fashion & culture in the business world.
𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐔𝐒 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 🇫🇷France – with a population of 68 million – produced almost as many US unicorn founders as 🇨🇳China, with a population of 1.4 billion. 46 founders of US unicorns were educated in 🇫🇷France and 51 in 🇨🇳China. More than one in five of US unicorn founders who studied in France attended INSEAD. One of those founders is oren zeev, co-founder of Tipalti. Four other French universities claim 3 unicorn founders each: - Université Paris Dauphine - PSL, including Jerome Ternynck, founder of SmartRecruiters. - EPITA: Ecole d'Ingénieurs en Informatique, including Michel Tricot, co-founder of Airbyte. - ESCP Business School, including Francois Dechery, co-founder of CloudBees. - HEC Paris, including Christine Lemke, co-founder of Evidation. These universities are mostly clustered in and around Paris, confirming the central role of Paris as a hub for business and innovation in France and a source of excellent networking opportunities. The dominance of business schools is also evident in the top 5. This comes as no surprise, as 29% of the unicorns in our sample have at least one founder who went to a business school. See my previous post: https://lnkd.in/gj8b8bvv What were the most common majors of unicorn founders who studied at French universities? 👨💻Computer Science - 38% 💼Business - 38% 📈Finance - 15% 🛠Engineering - 11% I would love to hear from my French followers – were these findings a surprise? Thank you to the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Venture Capital Initiative team for spearheading this research. #stanford #stanfordgsb #venturecapital #startups #innovation #technology #France
