Camillus House recently hosted our esteemed Legacy Society and Board Member Reception. The Camillus House Legacy Society raises funds to positively impact the lives of the community's most vulnerable. During the event, a former Camillus House client shared his powerful testimony of achieving major milestones like securing his own apartment and becoming a culinary teaching assistant – all made possible by the dedicated guidance of our team members and volunteers. Stories like his showcase our donors' incredible impact in empowering those we serve. Your generosity allows us to foster self-sufficiency and create opportunities for individuals to rebuild their lives with dignity. And all the staff and everyone that that's. The supporters. The biggest thing for me was just the kindness that was given to me while I was while I was at Camillo's house, from the case managers to just. Just just everyone, it's, it's a very positive place. And then having the opportunity to actually be in a classroom setting. To kind of get, get your thoughts away from, you know, all the troubles and all the, you know, the negativity of, of what I was going through. I had been been homeless for about four years prior to getting there and it it seemed like the most hopeless situation. It was. And of course, you know, you, you, you don't, you don't, you're not, it's not always, you don't always feel positive about it. So I, I was, I made it worse by being negative. Of. But you know, once I got into the Communist house. There was, you know, they shared Thanksgiving, which was like one of my favorite holidays. Just being able to have a space where I can meet people and and make friends and kind of share the same experience it was. It was like, I can't, I can't thankful enough. And I'm, I'm finally in a place where like I'm house, I got an apartment in Little Haiti and I that just, that seems so far, so, so far away from me about a year ago. There's a lot of people who believe in me and trust. No, I'm I'm not just a graduate. They are. They gave me opportunity to be an assistant teacher with Miami-Dade College, which is. Obviously out of the ordinary. You know. Because, you know, I'm, I'm learning. At the same time, I love cooking, you know, and. And I just, I, I'm sorry, I'm kind of friend, but I, I just wanted to just just give y'all, y'all flowers. This is this is very helpful. And I think you guys are changing Miami. I think you're changing the world.
