Politicians should stop talking about taxing charities and start taking about fully funded contracts. My latest column for Stuff. Whether it’s aged care, Plunket visits, hospice, social work or other important government core roles in social services, governments don’t cover the full cost in their contracts and yet demand full control and accountability. It’s driving some parts of New Zealand charitable sector into closure or the brink of closure. https://lnkd.in/gwuz7Szg #socialservices #charitysector

Did you know Food Forward has a win-win-win business model? That means our organization is a win for the community, a win for the environment, and a win for the produce industry! And at the same time, we manage to keep our operations financially efficient. In 2023 we kept our cost to recover and distribute produce at approximately $.07/lb and returned a social impact value of $168 million to communities across the region. Check out the 2023 Annual Impact Report to see how we did it all! https://bit.ly/44ImvQ1 #BuildingGenerationalHealth #sharetheabundance #giveback #foodforward #foodwaste #zerowaste #cultivate #community #volunteer #donate #nonprofit #fundraising #communityengagement #foodjustice #dogood #makeadifference #foodrecovery #donation #instagood #bethechange #kindness #joyfulness #giving #foodinsecurity #communityfirst #helpothers #losangeles #california

Did you know that 1 in 7 people experience #foodinsecurity? Supporting and working alongside families in our local communities with quality nourishment and improved access, is a privilege and cherished responsibility. Watch how Elevance Health, associates and our foundation – on #GivingTuesday and every day - are putting a #wholehealth approach into action. Through multi-phased #foodasmedicine grants from our foundation to Feeding America, associate #volunteering, or partnering with communities to design inclusive strategies, we’re driving health forward. https://lnkd.in/g9HacbPS
Thank you to the more than 2,000 associates who showed up this fall to give back through our annual Elevance Health #Volunteer Days! Our volunteers sorted, packed and harvested 738,259 pounds of food at 105 events in 32 markets. And today on #GivingTuesday associates will have a chance to keep the momentum going through a one-day-only $2:$1 match when they give to our signature charities.

🏆 Prize Draw Insights: Celebrating Sussex's Charitable Spirit! 🎉 At the recent Acumen Business Convention, we hosted a prize draw with a revealing question: "Sussex boasts many remarkable charities, yet only a handful are widely known. Tell us how many Sussex-based charities you know?" The results underscored this statement, with circa 100 respondents consistently mentioning three well-known much-loved charities: Rockinghorse Children's Charity Chestnut Tree House Martlets Hospice An additional 77 charities were captured, but a large majority only by a single respondent, thereby highlighting the significant challenge faced by grassroots charities in Sussex to build awareness of the work they deliver. At Focus Foundation, it is our mission to support lesser-known grassroots charities in raising their profile and encouraging opportunities for collaboration. Congratulations to Rockinghorse, Chestnut Tree House and Martlets for elevating their profile so successfully. We aspire to help other charities achieve similar recognition. Together, we can connect communities and change lives. 💜 #FocusFoundation #SussexCharities #CommunitySupport #CharityAwareness #ThisIsFocus ACUMEN BUSINESS LAW

As the year winds down and you're considering your tax loss harvesting 😉, don't forget to give to charitable causes you care about. Be it your place of worship, organizations for the needy, education, your alma mater, etc. there are numerous options for giving. There are even organizations like Charity Navigator that can help you vet charities if you like. As we climb the ladder we all ought to reach down and help others with our time, wisdom, and money. As the old saying goes, giving can be more rewarding than receiving. https://lnkd.in/gcwrtHqB

It’s not too late to book your holiday family getaway 🛳️ and not too early to book your spring break trip🏝️! These guys are the Disney trip experts❗️ Get a free consultation from Sandpiper Vacations and mention Ronald McDonald House so when you book, 5% of the commission they get from the airlines, hotels, and destinations are donated to RMHC‼️ By the way, I learned from them that even when you try to save money by spending lots of time yourself researching and trying to put a package together, those online travel websites also get commission…even if those big companies don’t manage your trip personally. But those big online aggregators often don’t keep an eye out for ways to lower your cost even after booking. These guys do. And the online agencies often can’t be reached with questions after booking to make sure your needs are met. But this local, small family-owned business has real people you can talk to during the entire process so your family can take off with confidence that everything is set and that you got a great deal!
Book your next family trip with a philanthropic company that supports the Columbus Ronald McDonald House! The dads who own Sandpiper Vacations are celebrating the two year anniversary of making their business full-time, and as fathers who've stayed in a Ronald McDonald House before, they've been supporters of the mission for much longer. When you contact co-owner Nick and mention "Ronald McDonald House" or "RMHC" for your free consultation, 5% of their booking commission from your purchased trip will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio! Help us keep families close to their hospitalized children by booking your next family trip through Sandpiper Vacations! https://lnkd.in/dChcnkb5 #SandpiperVacations #Vacation #FamilyVacation #Trip #BookYourTrip #CauseMarketing #PortionOfProceeds #FamiliesHelpingFamilies #Family #SupportACause #KeepingFamiliesClose #CbusRMH #ColumbusOhio #Columbus #Ohio
