Wow - hello, October! We remained fairly steady from August to September with only a slight decrease in calls. However, the weather will soon be rolling in so please stay safe on the roads and while recreating. Each month, we're sharing our stats from the previous month. If you follow along, you'll see how our call volume and type changes from season to season. Just a few notes: The information presented is this graphic based on incident dispatch call type. An incident is a count of each single unscheduled emergency event for which EC Paramedics assistance is requested. A response is a count of each time we responded to an incident. We hope you enjoy a more in-depth look into the activities of your Eagle County Paramedic Services. #monthlymetrics #monthlyMEDtrics

CellAED - ANOTHER GOOD NEWS STORY (I died at a funeral) The following is a great story that shows how important it is for witnesses to quickly identify a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and take immediate action, including calling Emergency Services and commencing CPR, applying an AED ASAP all of which helps to 'buy the patient time' until the Paramedics arrive to stabilise the person's condition further. As a former Intensive Care Paramedic, (MICA), I can categorically advise that without immediate intervention very few people survive a SCA. Let’s all do our bit to ensure Emergency Services have someone to stabilise after you've initially saved a life with a CellAED. So, make sure you know CPR and of course I’d encourage you to purchase an AED for your home and workplace. #resuscitation #cardiacarrest #publicsafety #paramedics #firstresponders #firstaidtraining #cprtraining #schoolsafety #governmentadministration #miningsafety #workplacesafety For CellAED: https://lnkd.in/g4fJzb-Z For CPR Training: https://lnkd.in/g6wExNnS

Augmented reality applied to medical emergencies! This tool can be useful in certain circumstances but it is definitely preferable to implement mandatory first aid training from an early age. #augmentedreality #AR #interactiondesign #emergency #innovation #futurism

Insights from an ambulance ride-along in England #3: These days, when you call 911 for a medical emergency, you may see a paramedic show up on an ambulance or on a fire engine. It hasn’t always been that way, and it’s definitely not that way in England where the “fire brigade” typically only responds to car accidents and other technical rescue type calls. Involving fire departments in EMS was once controversial and still isn’t accepted by everyone. The thought is … there are more fire stations than ambulance crews, therefore if firefighters have medical training, they can arrive first and initiate treatment when every minute counts. This has proven life-saving in the US, but it’s not cheap, which is why it’s not done everywhere. From a public perspective, most every person can remember seeing someone having a medical emergency, but when was the last time you saw a house fire? More than eighty percent (80%) of calls for many fire departments are medical-related. In the UK when someone calls 999 (their version of 911) they are often left waiting for hours for an ambulance to become available. It doesn’t mean America is running EMS the most efficient way, but I do think our fire departments’ involvement in EMS has proven valuable. Your thoughts? #paramedic #paramedics #ambulance #medicalemergency #emergencymedicine #emergencyresponse #firedepartment #fireindustry #firefighters
