Random ramblings of the cancer patient- part 6
Scans - arrived very early this morning and waiting for a scan. We already know the obvious and another surgery is planned but today we are scanning for any other problems or spread. Nothing is obvious, there are no more symptoms but you never know what might be lurking quietly ready to cause problems further down the line.
Hopefully nothing will be found but if it is then plans can be made to tackle it. Knowledge is power.
So, I'm sat in a waiting room thinking about how often we scan at work and look beyond the glaringly obvious in our charity, business or specific role. What are our competitors doin? Is new legislation on the way? Will our key customers or supporters still be in the same position in 6 months? Will your equipment remain fit for purpose? And so on. Sometimes we are so busy dealing with the here and now we don't look any further.
It doesn't take long, I'll be back at my desk in a few hours. it does however use some pretty impressive kit, we might need to use a template or bring in some external support or perspective.
Maybe nothing new will come to light, then good, but if something does emerge or more clarity is achieved then we can plan, mitigate and overcome.
Now for the easy bit, just lying still for a while. I doubt however it will be long enough to "scan" all of the challenges facing the charity sector this year.
