So apparently someone else chose to visit Silverstone today to make some important announcements but that wasn’t the real meeting of the day at Silverstone Park
The most important meeting of the day was undoubtedly that with myself, Stephen Watts (Managing Partner TC Group Northants/Milton Keynes/Leicestershire) and Pim van Baarsen (CEO Silverstone Technology Cluster STC). A meeting to discuss TC Group’s strategic decision to become members of the STC and very much to complement my role as a long standing ambassador and advocate of the cluster.
We discussed how we can work with Pim and the STC Team over the coming weeks, months and years on a variety of topics with clear synergies between our two organisations. With subject matters discussed around key areas such as support, investment, succession and thought leadership. With a real focus on how we can work together to deliver more for the cluster, its members and certainly some of our clients at TC Group.
There was certainly lots to takeaway from said meeting so watch this space for updates as we look to build this relationship.

In this video, former FSR researcher Maria Olczak talks about her career path at the Florence School of Regulation, sharing her insights on the school's activities and highlighting the most relevant research topics.
💬 "We see some mistakes have been made in Europe, and I think it is also very important, when we learn and teach about regulation, to do it in a very critical way so other people can learn from our mistakes"

Getting B Corp certified is no easy feat! (We know from experience)

B Corp Certification requires a business to have comprehensive impact standards to measure and support their changemaking efforts.
So, to celebrate the efforts of our fellow B Corps, we’ve decided to shout out a few of our favorites: Decade Impact, Salt Spring Coffee, Fairware and Fresh Prep.
Click the link above to read all about them 👆
(This is just the tip of the iceberg, we may need to do a follow up post in the near future!)

As a new membership year gets underway, we want to give our 2024-2025 Executive Committee a chance to tell you, in their own words, why they volunteer and what makes AWCI special to them. Say hello to AWCI Secretary Adam Navratil.
How long has your company been a member of AWCI?
My grandfather, the founder of J&B Acoustical, Inc., joined AWCI in 1963.
How long have you been involved in the organization?
I have been attending Conventions since I was a child with my parents in the early 80's. Interest peaked during my college years and I naturally transitioned to attending Conventions annually from 2000 forward. I initially got involved with the Education Committee soon thereafter and served as chair for 8 years. I served on the board of directors from 2015 to 2021.
Why are you involved? And why do you volunteer?
I believe that participating on a national level with such a great orginization can only make you and your company better at what you do. The act of giving time to something that I'm passionate about is a way for me to give back while also honing my skillset.
What is the value of membership for you, the company, your employees?
The value of membership for me comes from the lifelong friendships/relationships that are forged. These relationships are valuable resourses in a non-competition environment. Thought processes, experiences, and insight are shared for the betterment of all. Our employees will get to see new products and technologies from so many vendors and manufacturers in one location while being surrounded by like-minded construction professionals. The educational programs help foster employee thought process and growth when they return to work after an AWCI event.

If you are attending SETAC, this is an excellent training. If you can't swing the Sunday training, stop by the ASTM booth during the week for information on virtual trainings available in 2024. The schedule will be:
January 9th: Risk Based Corrective action for sediments and Application of Analytical Methods for Sediments
June 5th: Baseline, Remedy Implementation and Post Remedy Monitoring Strategies for sediment sites as well as Background Concentration Determination
September 5th: NAPL emplacement and mobility analysis in Sediments
I'm excited to announce that we are presenting a full-day training course at SETAC North America 44th Annual Meeting on November 12 in Louisville, KY. This course will cover the fundamentals of key ASTM sediment guidance related to sediment corrective actions, including an overview of RBCA, NAPL mobility/migration evaluations for sediment sites, post-remedy monitoring, as well as the fundamentals of determining representative background concentrations for sediment sites.
Please join us (Leyla Shams, PhD, Eric Litman, Allison Geiselbrecht, PhD) in Louisville!
