Important Milestone in the HyCET project: Marriage of a Volvo 40t hydrogen truck with KEYOU-inside 🎉   We are happy to announce that the HyCET project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr), has reached an important milestone. Recently, the so-called "marriage" of Volvo's 40-ton truck with the 13l zero emission hydrogen engine jointly developed by KEYOU and Volvo Group finally happened.    Together with our consortium partners BMW Group, Volvo Group, DEUTZ AG, DHL and TotalEnergies we are working on the development of a 40-ton truck with zero-emission hydrogen engine. The project aims to demonstrate the sustainability potential of trucks with hydrogen combustion engines in transport logistics. A big thank you also goes to our partner Paul Group, who is assembling the truck for us.   As we celebrate this achievement, we're already looking ahead to the next phase. With HVO, companies can support their decarbonization goals without having to invest in new equipment. Rolls-Royce and fuel manufacturer Neste cooperate on the implementation of sustainable fuels for mtu engines.  The availability of #HVO is constantly increasing, Neste will for example more than double its production capacity in the next coming years. Everyone is aware of the political boundary conditions, that are hindering solid project and economic forward planning for Hydrogen Mobility But now is not the time to hesitate, doubt and stagnate Discussions were targeted around progress through 1. Reliable partnerships 2. Pragmatic business case calculations 3. Risk aware planning and mitigation (don't get me wrong, we do face risks and will never eliminate all!) 4. Existing success stories and logistic companies feedback with hydrogen as fuel What did we learn: ● every 150km requires a HRS along the Ten-T core network under the AFIR regulation ~415 HRS until 2030 ● The CO2 reduction targets for OEM fleets (-45% until 2030) and transport sector (-40%) are set ● if we want to meet these targets we'd require ~1440 HRS and over 14.400 fast charging stations ● the CEF (connecting europe facility) fund holds 1,4bln € for alternative infrastructure until 2030, which should unlock further 3,3bln € from private investors ● We need throughput!!! IMC's decision to make large investments in zero emission technology helps to provide more confidence to fleets, shippers, OEMs and clean energy infrastructure investors. This is important timing as the California regional and national infrastructure system is assembled. GLDPartners is currently working with its I-40 TradePort Corridor partners on the development of an important component of the national infrastructure system that will power the nation's long-haul truck fleets. With partners in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma, the I-40 TradePort Corridor is developing renewable clean energy infrastructure inside Truck Mobility Complexes stretching from the Port of Los Angeles through Kingman, AZ, Winslow, AZ, Albuquerque and later into into Amarillo and Oklahoma City. With significant public leadership, this collaboration has set the ambitious objective to develop a national model via the TradePort system as an electric and hydrogen corridor.
