The American Climate Corps is officially open for business! Within the next few weeks, over 9,000 people will be deployed throughout the U.S. to begin work on our collective green future. From the ACC website: "The American Climate Corps (ACC) will empower a new, diverse generation to tackle two of the greatest challenges of our time: environmental injustice and climate change. We are creating a world in which individuals are equipped with the career training and hands-on skills to make change — change we can breathe, see, feel, and touch. And where together, we have the power to reimagine and reorient the course of our lives, our communities, our country, and our planet." On June 18, 2024, The Biden Administration hosted the first swearing-in ceremony of 9,000 members of President Biden’s landmark American Climate Corps (ACC) (https://www.acc.gov) – a groundbreaking initiative modeled after Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) that will put a new, diverse generation of young Americans to work combating the impacts of climate change today while gaining the skills they need to join the growing clean energy and climate-resilience workforce of tomorrow.  President Biden’s goal is to have 20,000 members in the first year. They will serve across the country, going to work conserving and restoring our lands and waters, bolstering community resilience, deploying clean energy, implementing energy efficient technologies, and advancing environmental justice.

Great news today: President Biden launches the American Climate Corps, an interagency partnership between AmeriCorps, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Departments of Labor, Interior, Agriculture, and Energy.
