What I enjoyed most at my first conference on primary health care: 🌍 Meeting many PATH colleagues face to face for the first time, getting inspired by their work and having fun together. 🛠️ Learning that community health program should be the backbone and not the appendix of the health system. 🏩 Recognizing the value add of non-public health care services (private, community- and faith-based and corporate). #icphc2023

Navigating the healthcare system can sometimes be overwhelming. Complex instructions, a lack of time, and social needs can be barriers preventing people from taking care of their health. That's where community health workers (#CHWs) come in! As trusted members of their communities, CHWs can: - Simplify confusing paperwork and medical jargon, - Connect clients to crucial health and social resources and - Advocate for the unique needs of a community. Read about the vital contributions of CHWs and what policies can support and broaden their reach in this brief published by NYU Langone Health: https://ow.ly/3glS50QnQTZ

How well do you understand how CQC is changing? In 2023 we launched a communication campaign to ensure all health & social care providers and professionals understand what these changes are, what they mean for them and what they need to do to prepare for these changes being implemented. To help us measure how successful this campaign has been so far, we want to know how well you understand these changes. To help us do this we'd like your feedback through a short survey https://buff.ly/3VAOw7P

U.S. spending on primary care fell again, to a mere 4.6% of total health care dollars spent. Primary Care Collaborative is the only national multi-stakeholder organization focused on whole-person primary care. Primary Care Collaborative President & CEO Ann C. Greiner joins hosts Mark Masselli and Margaret Flinter, APRN, PHD, FAAN on this week's episode of Conversations on Health Care to discuss better compensation and reimbursement for primary care clinicians and efforts to increase training, expanding access to community health centers, and opportunities for primary care to help as the country faces a mental health crisis. What will it take to get the United States to wake up to the need for better primary care? Tune into this week’s conversation to learn more: https://chc1.co/greiner.

Only 45 days left until federal funding for CHCs lapses. Your health center is one of the over 1,400 organizations serving the country's 31 million Americans living in underserved, underinsured communities. And this funding ensures millions of people have access to critical health services. The crisis is only temporarily averted. Lawmakers avoided shutdown over the weekend, but have just 45 days to hammer out deals on longer-term funding for the government health programs and to tackle other expiring health programs and reforms that were left out of the stop-gap deal. Community health centers like yours, which serve patients regardless of their ability to pay, can rest easy—for now. But a path forward is unclear… We still need a longer-term bipartisan extension of funding! What can you do? 1) Learn more on the history of federal funding at NACHC https://bit.ly/46BJX1e 2) Leverage the Health Center Advocacy Network’s resources to continue outreach efforts https://bit.ly/3Q2sNnR Please share with your network for greater reach and maximum impact! #chcs #federalfunding #stopgap #communityhealthfunding #healthcareaccess #healthcareforall #healthcareisaright
