𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲-𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗗-𝗦𝗢𝗜 𝗖𝗠𝗢𝗦 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 Nanostructuring the STI layer can significantly enhance the photon detection probability of SPADs. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿? Enhancing SPAD sensitivity is crucial for applications in time-of-flight measurement, facial recognition, and telemetry, enabling more accurate and efficient performance. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 ‣ STI nanostructuring can generate up to a 700% relative gain in Photon Detection Probability (PDP) at specific wavelengths. ‣ Simulations show an average relative gain over 100% in the considered wavelength range for frontside illumination. ‣ Experimental results confirm significant PDP improvements with STI patterning, despite maintaining equivalent Dark Count Rates. SHUTE is really proud to have contributed to Yohan Barbarins’ (Et al.) work on measuring shock and detonation velocities. Earlier this year Yohan Barbarin from Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (CEA) presented his work on a SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics conference. Yohan Barbarin has since 2013 worked as a senior researcher at CEA Gramat, France. He is developing various dynamic optical measurement systems for shock and detonation physic experiments. Yohan presented his teams’ work on: “Polymer chirped fiber Bragg grating for more sensitive shock velocity measurements”.
