𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿? Enhancing SPAD sensitivity is crucial for applications in time-of-flight measurement, facial recognition, and telemetry, enabling more accurate and efficient performance. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 ‣ STI nanostructuring can generate up to a 700% relative gain in Photon Detection Probability (PDP) at specific wavelengths. ‣ Simulations show an average relative gain over 100% in the considered wavelength range for frontside illumination. ‣ Experimental results confirm significant PDP improvements with STI patterning, despite maintaining equivalent Dark Count Rates. Earlier this year Yohan Barbarin from Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives (CEA) presented his work on a SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics conference. Yohan Barbarin has since 2013 worked as a senior researcher at CEA Gramat, France. He is developing various dynamic optical measurement systems for shock and detonation physic experiments. Yohan presented his teams’ work on: “Polymer chirped fiber Bragg grating for more sensitive shock velocity measurements”.
