☄️ Are Impact Factors outdated? 📊 ☄️📊 The article discusses challenges in grant application processes, particularly in crafting narrative summaries that blend personal experiences with professional achievements. ☄️📊 It advocates for narrative reflections to capture broader research impacts, citing difficulties in aligning personal experiences like family leave with professional merits like engagement in open science. ☄️📊 Lack of clear evaluation criteria exacerbates the issue, leaving applicants uncertain about the effectiveness of their narrative summaries. ☄️📊 The article, authored by a co-chair of the Declaration On Research Assessment (DORA), underscores the importance of explicit evaluation criteria, community involvement in design, and mission-driven assessments adaptable to diverse contexts. ☄️📊 It highlights the necessity of investment in implementation scientists to facilitate research assessment reform effectively. ☄️📊 Additionally, it suggests that while sharing resources is beneficial, each research community requires a unique assessment framework. ☄️📊 DORA's initiative, Reformscape, provides tools like sample CVs and policies to aid institutions in building on existing successes. ☄️📊 The Luxembourg National Research Fund's transition to narrative CVs exemplifies the potential of iterative approaches to research assessment reform. ☄️📊 However, challenges remain, such as ensuring adequate guidance for researchers and addressing field-specific concerns. ☄️📊 The article concludes by emphasizing the responsibility of institutions to actively participate in research assessment reform efforts to avoid perpetuating a flawed system that undermines research investment and productivity. What do you think? 👍🏻 and 🔄 the knowledge :) Follow me for more ! Dr. Hamed Altaweel #impactfactor #publications #grants

🔬 **Good Practice Codes for Knowledge Valorization** On March 1st, the European Commission proposed two good practice codes to promote the valorization of knowledge derived from research and innovation. 1️⃣ **Citizen Engagement for Knowledge Valorization:** This code aims to provide guidance and tools to research and innovation stakeholders to create an enabling environment for knowledge valorization. It proposes: - Pathways to establish participatory processes and practices. - Suggestions to enhance talents and capacities, cross-sectoral and transdisciplinary collaborations, and synergies. - Elements to increase awareness of the benefits of knowledge valorization. 2️⃣ **Co-Creation between Industry and Universities:** This code offers pathways for enhanced dialogue between sectors, investments in skills development and lifelong learning, as well as the promotion of incentives for teams engaging in knowledge valorization processes. ℹ️ These proposals are also being discussed in the Council as part of the adoption of conclusions under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU. 🔗 Links to the proposals: - [Citizen Engagement](https://lnkd.in/eJNAYwKE) - [Industry-University Co-Creation](https://lnkd.in/esMsdYFq) #Research #Innovation #KnowledgeValorization #Citizens #IndustryUniversities

🔜 What’s next? A special roundtable during our next meeting in Lisbon! 👀 Join the discussion here (Free attendance | Mandatory registration) - https://lnkd.in/dRQwTK_A 📍The MeDeMAP team will meet again in March. Our next project meeting will take place in Lisbon between the 6th and the 8th. At it will end on a high note with a roundtable at the Lusófona University - Center University of Lisbon. On March 8, between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., journalists, researchers and NGOs will come together to debate under the theme of "Media and Democracies - Strengths, Threats and Opportunities", in the light of the national and European context. 📥 In a year in which European elections are taking place and several countries are also electing their new governments - like Portugal - and Europe is overcoming a difficult socioeconomic period, this discussion has never made more sense. There is a growing need to get the masses to reflect about the relationship between the media and democracies, considering the dynamics of the media and their impact on democratic systems, including society's political involvement and media consumption. 📣 The panel for this roundtable is made up of professionals from the social and technological sciences who will discuss the topic at an event open to the whole community and free to attend, subject to prior registration here: https://lnkd.in/dRQwTK_A. 🆕 For more news, look out for upcoming publications here on our feed. 🎉 Well, what a year this has been! Not posting regularly, I'll be probably drowning you with updates in this post about the many beautiful things that have happened this year: 📖 I contributed with a chapter about the convergence of the researches of economist #ElinorOstrom and economic sociologist #VivianaZelizer to the Springer volume "Living Better Together. Social Relations and Economic Governance in the Work of Ostrom and Zelizer" with Carolina Dalla Chiesa and Valeria Morea. 📖 Another chapter came to life with my dearest Candida Rolla about the role of the Asia Pacific countries in the drafting and implementation of the #WorldHeritageConvention in a volume beautifully curated, among others, by Professor Elisa Baroncini, called "Forever Young: Celebrating 50 Years of the World Heritage Convention". 📄 You can also read about conflicts and motivations in #participatory #culture-led #regenerationprojects in another article of mine, dedicated to a part of my PhD thesis and featured in a new issue of Tracce Urbane. 👩🏻🏫 I have been confirmed as Adjunct Professor in #Management of #CulturalEvents at Università LUMSA for the second year, and as usual, I am thrilled and terrified to go back to teaching a course entirely on my own! 💥 The biggest challenge and satisfaction comes from my freelance activity, however, as I'm now working as a #projectmanager for three small municipalities in rural Sicily, implementing a Next Generation EU-funded project of #cultural and #social #regeneration against #depopulation. A most riveting and challenging role which is teaching me a lot on how to navigate in uncertainty, develop #capacitybuilding for #publicadministrations and manage complex #stakeholder systems while working on #socialinnovation with the citizens. 🎉 In the picture, you can see a smiling (yet terrified) shot right after I had completed a series of educational clips for a forthcoming Una Europa initiative on #citizenscience on which I'll tell you more as it turns into reality. Let's see what awaits ahead, and good luck to all my friends and colleagues for the September beginning (hopefully after a well-deserved break)! . . . #research #projectmanagement #academia #achievements #celebration
