Congratulations to PSDI for this insightful report on "Powering the Pacific: The Cost Implications of Renewable Energy", to which DHInfrastructure (https://lnkd.in/d9JFimbg) recently contributed. The report will undoubtedly be useful for regulators and utilities looking to educate and manage the expectations of customers and policymakers about the energy transition. A special thanks to the Office of Pacific Energy Regulators Alliance (https://lnkd.in/dr5K2waN) and the Pacific Power Association (https://lnkd.in/dCqPVfw8) for providing much of the valuable data used in this report. Their work continues to be instrumental in understanding the energy landscape of the Pacific. Some of my personal takeaways from the report (and I'm riffing here a bit on the messages): 1. Transparency is important: Customers are often willing to pay for electricity when they understand what they're paying for. Clear communication about costs and benefits is crucial. 2. The energy transition is a journey: Realizing the full benefits for customers and the environment will take time and effort. This is time and effort well spent, but—like anything worth doing—we have to avoid expecting instant gratification. 3. Diverse financing is crucial: Private financing will be critically important to the transition, but there's also still a vital role for public sector financing. Access to concessional financing from institutions like ADB and the World Bank, and grant money from bilateral donors is essential, especially where some renewable options (e.g., hydro) may still more expensive than traditional energy generation. #RenewableEnergy #PacificIslands #EnergyTransition #SustainableDevelopment

Check out our new blog, Electrical Vehicles Powered by Renewable Energy, to learn more about how electric vehicles (EVs) running on renewable energy, such as solar power, can help reduce the burden on electricity generation through fossil fuels and give way to green and clean energy. Renewable energy is often readily available and does not emit greenhouse gases. Energy production through local sources like solar and wind power makes the energy infrastructure more flexible, less dependent on centralised sources that can lead to disruption, and less resilient to weather-related climate change. TÜV SÜD is a qualified and trusted partner in Life Cycle Assessment and Product Carbon Footprint services. Our experts help organisations assess their products' environmental performance through LCA and PCF studies. We identify the major hotspots of a product and its environmental impacts and recommend measures to enhance its environmental performance. A robust LCA and PCF study helps organisations make actionable decisions with informed outcomes. Read the blog to know more! https://lnkd.in/gtPmbBHC
