At Burberry, we believe in the importance of preserving critical manufacturing skills and enabling our colleagues to develop in their roles. To support this, we established a training facility at our manufacturing site in Castleford, Yorkshire to help upskill our colleagues. From creating buttonholes and inputting loops to advanced machine or hand-sewing, our twelve-week training programme is designed for colleagues at all levels and has offered over 10,000 hours of practical skill training to date. This initiative not only enhances the technical skills of employees but also fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. By prioritizing skill development, Burberry is ensuring the preservation of traditional craftsmanship while also adapting to modern manufacturing demands. This dual focus is crucial for maintaining a competitive edge in the fashion industry. Kudos to Burberry for leading by example in workforce development!

2wIt is so important that we keep our craft in Europe alive! It is heritage and tradition that we will lose if we are not careful. I was trained as a seamstress years ago and now work in leather craft. It's shocking how few people still know about these beautiful skills. Your initiative helps keep traditions alive! That's wonderful to see.
