The successful transfer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the bunker vessel ‘Avenir Aspiration’ to the TT-Line's RoPax ferry ‘Nils Holgersson’, took place at the Port of Lübeck. This event marked a pivotal moment as the first STS LNG bunkering operation within a German port, following Avenir’s earlier LNG and bio-LNG bunker operation conducted via trucks in 2022. 🇲🇾 ➡️ Petronas looking at equity stake in LNG Canada Phase 2 Malaysia's state energy firm Petroliam Nasional is considering new investments in the Atlantic Basin for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) business, a senior executive said on Tuesday. Known as PETRONAS, the company is aiming to increase its share of the global liquefied natural gas market to 10%, Senior Vice President for LNG Abang Yusuf said at the CERAWeek energy conference. Petronas also is looking at taking an equity stake in the second phase of LNG Canada's gas-export plant in Kitimat, British Columbia, on the west coast of Canada, he said. This week marked a historic milestone for the company as they successfully concluded the first-ever ship LNG bunkering at the Hamina LNG terminal. This achievement was made possible through a collaborative effort with Rohe Solutions Oy and Glander International Bunkering. The burgeoning interest in Hamina LNG comes at a time when the number of ships utilizing LNG/LBG (liquefied natural gas/liquefied biogas) is on the rise. Utilizing Hamina LNG’s refueling arm at their berth offers significant advantages, ensuring ships receive a full tank of colder LNG directly from storage. In response to the escalating demand, Hamina LNG has announced the availability of spot capacity during the months of April to June. While the current storage booking level remains high, there is still space available from April onwards. Avenir LNG has successfully signed a 7-year Time Charter Party (TCP) with Vitol International Shipping Pte Ltd for Avenir's first 20,000cbm LNG Bunker Vessel. Scheduled to commence in Q4 2026 upon delivery from the shipyard in China, this strategic agreement includes options to extend up to a total of 10 years. In April 2024, Avenir announced the order of two 20,000cbm LNG Bunker Vessels from Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd, with deliveries planned for Q4 2026 and Q1 2027.
