With the tremendous support of our BI network, we collected and donated over 3,300 books during our #bookdrive for More Than Words! These donations not only protect the environment by saving thousands of books from going to waste, but also directly support More Than Words' youth run business and their mission of job training and empowerment. We’re grateful for everyone who donated and made this impact possible! 📚 🎉
Special shoutout to the Breakaway Courier Services team who were instrumental in transporting these donations! 🚴
Didn’t get to donate? Don’t stress! There is always an opportunity to support local youth, find your next favorite novel and give a book a new life by shopping More Than Words’ used books! https://lnkd.in/eyftc_bg

Last week, my family spent a couple of days up north helping my husband, Don Riedthaler and the Ignite Northwest team, in their company’s test kitchen make and package meals for hungry kids. Between Don and I having worked decades in the restaurant industry, owning a restaurant of our own and having Don (aka Dad) as the primary cook at home, we have an abundance of food surrounding us, especially around the holidays. It felt so good (thanks to the powerful happiness hormone, oxytocin) to spent time in service to others. In the process, I noticed 3 benefits that parallel the neuroscience research in this article written by Brian de Lottinvillehttps://lnkd.in/ggG4wUY3
1. Synergy
2. Cooperation
3. Connectedness
More benefits observed:
1. Empathy
2. Laughter and play
3. Conversation
4. Future strategic planning and decision making
It’s no wonder companies invest in team building where bonds can be formed. Though, upon reflection, the experience of helping others (for me) trumped some of the more prescriptive team building activities I’ve witnessed or participated in (karaoke bars, and escape rooms come to mind). What has your experience with team building been, and what are the possibilities for designing these opportunities with others in mind?
If neuroscience fascinates you too, check out this article by Ritvo who writes about the neurochemical drivers of happiness: Dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin make up the Happiness Trifecta in this article:

#hungry#children - Two words that should never go together! Did you know that 1 in 8 children in #washingtonstate face hunger every day. None of those children make the choice to be hungry…
Ignite Northwest prides ourselves in doing our part and giving back to our community, and this year we partnered up with Shawn Walton and #StLeosParrish with a commitment of 100 prepared meals…but little did we know that when we asked some of our local business partners like Jeff Winter w/CMA, who donated $500! and Jason Wirth with Bargreen Ellingson who donated a SUV full of to-go packaging and apple juice, we would be pushed to make more than 100 meals.
Inspired by Jeff’s donation, I personally matched his gift and we now had $1,000 towards to purchase of food and supplies to make over 300 MEALS!!!
A special shout out to the team at Ignite, specifically Ryan Devereaux who donated two days of his time to help make these delicious meals, and my wife Janell Payne and our family who also pitched in to help out!
We are now devoted to make this an annual event and next year, stay tuned as our next #goal is 500 meals between #thanksgiving and #christmas#givingback#foodserviceequipment#foodbusiness#hunger#childrenshealth#foodbanks
Over $3 Billion of resources will be distributed today as part of #givingtuesday. This is a big day for nonprofits, foundations, and the communities they serve. Please find a few missions to support!
Here are some important considerations as you participate:
- Every dollar counts. Most donations are small, and they add up!
- Spread the love: small, local organizations and large, national organizations both serve unique needs. Be sure to do your research before making your decision to give.
- Consider writing a check to avoid credit card transaction fees.
- No extra cash? No problem! Consider volunteering your time or hitting up a local blood drive. You might also have canned foods, clothes, blankets and other essential items lying around that you can donate!

The most common reason people donate to a cause is because a family or friend asked them to. In fact, 4 of every 10 Americans make donations to a new organization at a loved one's encouragement, according to a 2019 YouGov Survey.
So if you're looking to attract new donors during your Spring fundraising appeal, consider developing a peer-to-peer campaign. It's designed to encourage your most loyal supporters to introduce your organization to their family and friends.
Not sure where to get started? Draw on our experience creating successful peer-to-peer campaigns for our clients: https://lnkd.in/gdA5y342. We've even included a download to help you craft your case for support.
Most people think that the only way to donate is by giving money.
But your time & skills can be just as valuable.
Every quarter at Pink Trumpet, I donate to an organization that supports women & girls.
In Q1 of 2024, I gave my time & resources.
Recently, I supported:
→ Pastoral Women’s Council (PWC)
With their 2023 annual report.
For many nonprofits, while an annual report is a great fundraising tool, the cost of creating one can be quite high.
It’s instances like this where the gift of time can be the most valuable donation.
Check out a few pages of the report here and a link to their website is in the comment below!
Today is National Day of Giving also known as Giving Tuesday!
Celebrated every Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday celebrates generosity and the giving spirit.
Today is a great day to focus on those who need our help like charities, families, and community centers. There are a multitude of ways that we all can celebrate based on our individual means.
You can join the global movement by making blankets, donating, setting up collections, and volunteering.
This year, ECCO is continuing in our people-first mindset, EC[COnnection], by contributing to local utility customer assistance programs. We understand that utilities are a necessity that provides basic needs to our communities and have committed to lending a helping hand to those who need a little extra help.

🍁Fall is the season of giving 🍁
…(and flannel, cider mill donuts & PSL)
But above all, it's about #giving!
One of the easiest ways to give is to #support our local troops/packs in their #fundraising efforts.
So, I implore you to consider the following when you encounter a young boy or girl selling popcorn, meat sticks, or cookies this autumn:
1. Many of them accept various forms of payment, including #cash, #credit, and #Venmo.
2. If their product doesn't pique your interest, inquire about making a #donation.
3. Even if you're not inclined to donate, take a moment to stop and #engage with them, offering words of #encouragement.
4. Remember, your support is helping children who might otherwise be unable to afford to participate, and they rely on their share of the fundraising proceeds. We should never let financial constraints hinder our kids from taking part.
These young individuals are our #future#entrepreneurs, the first wave of do-gooders, and our future #linkedin Class of 2040.
(And shout out to our 2023 South Lyon Pinewood Derby winner, Charlie York 🥰🥇)
Tomorrow is #GivingTuesday! We hope you will consider supporting Southeastern Community Action Partnership (SCAP). Giving a gift to our agency helps further our mission to uplift the individuals and families we serve through our programs.
