Partnering with local media can be invaluable in raising awareness of hospice funding challenges. It also helps mobilise support from the local community. Bolton Hospice worked with an Editor to secure a weekly spot in their local newspaper. Each issue shared hospice stories with the public, addressing misconceptions and highlighting the importance of hospice services. Want to do something similar at your hospice? Helping patients to create and make evidence-informed healthcare choices through involvement and engagement in HTA and research NIHR | NICE | NHS E | THIS Institute | Genetics Alliance UK
Care and its value are invisible in plain sight. Driving carers to the edge of burnout and beyond is not a sustainable strategy. "[One] in three adults (30%) in Scotland have caring responsibilities; with respondents saying they are a parent (15%) or look after a child informally (7%), are an unpaid carer for someone who is ill, disabled or elderly (7%), or are employed in a paid caring role (2%). While caring is widespread, the data shows that nearly three quarters (74%) of adults in Scotland believe care work is not valued highly enough by the Scottish Government.…[The] majority of people don’t think that the increased attention on the role of carers during the pandemic resulted in any additional practical support for paid carers (57%), unpaid carers (61%) or parents (55%)."

Protecting, Connecting and Thriving: We Are All Public Health "Public health is more than just health care. It's the steps we take to make sure our neighborhoods and environment are free from pollution. It's making sure our food and water are safe to eat and drink. It's also the relationships we foster in our communities. We're all interconnected. When we all come together to support public health, all of us — individuals, families, communities and the public health field — can achieve the goals of public health." https://nphw.org/ #nphw #publichealth #womeninpublichealth

Chief Medical Officer, CareAllies – a Cigna Company | Healthcare Executive | Focused on optimizing quality care delivery
The importance and role that primary care physicians play in public health and the communities they serve cannot be overstated. This thought summarizes what we should all endeavor for in #healthcare: “Collectively, we are all better served by taking better care of those charged with taking care of us.” Those in my orbit know I believe the best way we can help doctors is to empower them to focus more of their time and energy on caring for patients.
