It's a very interesting idea from David Heinemeier Hansson. If your apps (both web as well as mobile) store their data on your device then, you can pretty much scale the application infinitely. There are some problems that immediately come to mind. First, most people today use more than one device, so there needs to be a way of ensuring shared state between a user's devices. Also if a device is damaged or lost, what. happens to the date related to your app. There are obviously solutions to both problems. So perhaps the future is not #SaaS apps but truly distributed applications. #softwareengineering #scaleup #engineeringdesign #distributedcomputing #saas https://lnkd.in/gbBNacFi

💡 10 tips to improve speed and performance in Retool 💡 You’ve built your apps super fast in Retool, but are you still getting stuck with that loading icon for a touch longer than you’d like? This article breaks down our 10 best tips for improving speed and performance in your Retool apps. Our tips break down into three main categories: - overall infrastructure improvements, - optimizing components - and altering queries to reduce data load. Some of our top tips: 📄 Break large apps down into smaller ones that function like multi-page apps. We write more about this in our multipage app guide 📊 Limit charts and complex arithmetic, making sure such complex queries only run when needed (or even use pre-loaded JS) 🏁 Use only the data you need - paginate large datasets, minimize queries running simultaneously, and segment data that isn’t always used into separate queries These aren’t hard-and-fast rules (they sparked much internal Bold Tech debate), and exact results will vary according to each individual app and situation, but hopefully these can act as a guide to help you optimize your app load time. 10 tips to increase speed and improve performance in Retool ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/gEBdADTS
