"We lean on the shoulders of many talents." This is a phrase from the manifesto of Karakters, the company where I am doing an internship here in Ghent, Belgium. For a long time, I wanted to post about my experience here at Karakters, but I couldn't find the right words to express how satisfying and innovative this experience is for me. I am discovering a new Elisa that I love: a curious, determined, but above all patient person. It's been 6 weeks since I started my experience with the Erasmus program at ITS Angelo Rizzoli, and every day I am more grateful for having made this decision, for stepping out of my comfort zone in search of a future I desire so much. The biggest challenge I was afraid to face, wasn’t being able to carry out the tasks that would be assigned to me, but rather being able to assert my ideas and skills in a context where there is a language barrier. I always wondered: how do I create communication campaigns or advertisements in a language like Dutch, which I don't know? Well, needless to say, these were pointless concerns because Karakters taught me that, as its manifesto says, success is achieved through the collaboration of different talents. Indeed, here I have encountered talents and professionals who integrate me in exciting projects with atypiKal results, and to be honest, doing it in English makes it more fun. In the coming months, I will enjoy every single project and try to experiment as much as possible in a company that has so much to teach me.

Seeing all the RAJA posts on LinkedIn took me back to my internship days with Pantaloons last year. That opportunity allowed me to be part of their celebration and gain a deep understanding of the culture not very familiar to me. This, I suppose, is the beauty of corporate life. Reflecting on it, I realize it was more than just a celebration; it was a valuable lesson. 💪 Resilience 💪 During my internship with the Velosaty team at Sports.Excitement, I learned about the organization’s culture and how it brings together a diverse group of ambitious people. I remember everyone I worked with came from different educational backgrounds and stages of their career. Some were laid off, others wanted to explore alternative career paths, and, well a few like me genuinely wanted to kickstart their careers with an internship in tech. We all faced challenges, and some of us did not overcome them. The project Velosaty enabled us to take on a more complex challenge: building a platform for student-athletes from scratch. As I iterated before, with Velosaty, I became more confident with my skill set, got better at managing my time, and overcame imposter syndrome. These were all blockers I had during my career change's early days. I often thought I wouldn’t succeed as a software engineer, and then I found out that having the right mindset makes the difference in dealing with blockers. If we make them into something bigger than ourselves, we’ll never solve our problems. If we instead view them as tools to get better at what we do, then that’s when we grow both professionally and personally. With this, I thank my team for instilling in me the value of resilience, a trait that Velosaty seeks in student-athletes to help them in their professional journey. #WithVelosaty #professionalgrowth #resilience
