Nicole F. Steinmetz Ph.D., Professor in Nanoengineering and Center Director of the Center for Engineering in Cancer (CEC), has recently published a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The paper highlights Steinmetz's recent work on the development of a cancer vaccine targeting S100A9, a regulator of inflammation and a protein associated with poor patient prognosis. The vaccine was able to generate an immune response in mouse models to produce antibodies against S100A9 while also increasing the expression of immune-stimulating proteins with anti-tumor properties and decreasing immune-suppressing protein expression. Leaders of our Science and Clinical Strategy teams had the chance to talk to Brian Casey from The Imaging Wire at #ECR2024. TL, DR: 44% less radiologist reading time, 28% higher cancer detection. Less work. More cancer. Not all Breast AI is the same! The longer version? The first and only Breast AI randomized controlled trial (RCT) - MASAI, by Kristina Lång and team - continues to demonstrate the incredible value of Transpara in both improving #mammography #workflow and detecting #breastcancer. Results presented by Dr. Lång at ECR showed a 28% INCREASE in cancer detection while maintaining incredibly low recall rates, and saving radiologist reading time.
