Doing my best to be a good human with a desire to do the right thing and help make a positive difference with others
Fair Accountability is confirmation that: You matter What you think matters What you do matters Before we look at what Fair Accountability is, let's take a look at what accountability is not. A transactional leader would say that the simple definition of accountability is “Do it or else!” They may say things like: “If you fail, I’m holding you accountable” “I’m leaving that with you” “That is a measurable item for you” “I need regular status reports so I can hold you accountable” “If you can’t do this, I’ll find someone that can” These are not the words of a trusted leader that you would (or should) follow. A leader worth following will build fair accountability knowing it is a shared process (not a moment to fear) and is held in a partnership built on trust, with honesty and safety. It can be done in a number of ways, but the key elements in the approach are: -Clear and transparent dialogue to create shared meaning and understanding of what is expected, must be done, or achieved, and why that is important -Agreement about what is being committed to by everyone -Following up to sustain attention and support and commitment -Feedback for motivation, recognition, and opportunity to learn and correct -Certainty of consequence - there must be a consequence for delivering (or not) on an accountability. Certainty of: Recognition of accomplishments -Additional support when success is proving more challenging than expected -Fair assessment of performance demonstrated to carry the accountability. In conclusion: Without fair accountability we cannot trust, we cannot grow, we cannot succeed in being all we can possibly be.

I see this in my work all the time. I work very closely with Souls for long periods of time, and where there is no ANSWERABILITY, there is no consistency. Where there’s no CONSISTENCY , there is no commitment. Where there is no COMMITMENT, there’s no connection. AND without this ANSWERABILITY for a valid CONNECTION, there can be no TRANSFORMATION (period)! #personalgrowthjourney #personaldevelopment #transformation #spiritualcombattraining⚔️ #growth #soulcoach #mussar #spiritualdisciplines

When I was young, I used to shun the word Accountability. Because in order to have proper accountability, I have to be upfront with my incapability and flaws to myself and to others. Such vulnerability was scary and I avoided it at all costs. But like what John Maxwell said in the video below, without accountability, it is impossible for me to grow into my full potential. Am tremendously humbled for the breakthrough to be able to be accountable early last year, and how it has changed the trajectory of my life. How has being accountable impacted your life too? #selfleadership #accountability #intentional #growth

I completely agree, John! Accountability is indeed a vital aspect in unlocking our full potential. When we hold ourselves accountable for our actions, decisions, and goals, it not only helps us stay focused, but also encourages personal growth and development. Accountability creates a sense of responsibility and commitment towards our own success. It pushes us to set realistic goals, track our progress, and take necessary actions to achieve them. Without it, we might find ourselves wandering aimlessly without a clear direction. In addition to personal accountability, fostering a culture of accountability within teams and organizations can lead to greater productivity and success. When everyone is accountable for their respective roles and responsibilities, teamwork thrives, communication improves, and the overall efficiency increases. Accountability also plays a significant role in building trust. When we consistently deliver on our commitments and take ownership of our mistakes or shortcomings, people around us start seeing us as reliable individuals who can be relied upon. This strengthens relationships both personally and professionally.

I recently discussed accountability, and it is as simple as this: people don't do what you expect they do what you inspect. Holding staff accountable does not mean bullying but supporting them to reach their highest potential through professional development. Next, there needs to be a consistent framework to ensure they are successfully doing the work.

Accountability is critical if you want to win. Once your team understands what they are accountable for and strives to achieve it, you’re on the right track… To be accountable however one must clearly understand what is expected of them. So accountability goes hand in hand with clear communication and realistic expectations. #leadership
