What are some of the issues affecting the constructional steelwork sector more widely? This was one of the questions we discussed with Ed Miliband, MP for Doncaster North and Shadow Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, and Dr David Moore, Chief Executive of the British Constructional Steelwork Association (BCSA), when they visited our facilities in Bentley. I’ve been with Kiewit for 16 years. Here’s what I’ve learned working on their projects:    Collaboration is at the forefront of what we do: Having in-house resources provides our team additional support for our projects, regardless of their immediate involvement.    Our collective abilities and experience to handle complex projects: Unforeseen issues can come up at any point before or during construction. Our team is equipped with experienced minds to clear any hurdles effectively. In fact, our team thrives on solving the complex.    Building relationships where we work: When we are designing or constructing, we are there until the project is complete, that can mean years. Our team not only works in but becomes part of the community. They can see firsthand the importance our work will bring to them. Bottom line, whether it is roads and bridges or water and wastewater infrastructure, my time at Kiewit has shown me all our team is capable of for delivering the best outcomes for our clients’ needs. 

Australia’s largest steelmaker, BlueScope, will transform 200 hectares of excess land into a multi-industrial precinct at the Port Kembla Steelworks, just an hour south of Sydney.   The new precinct will be an ideal home for businesses in emerging industries, such as clean energy, technology, and defence, with the potential to create 20,000 jobs and generate up to $5 billion annually.   The precinct is adjacent to Australia’s largest manufacturing site and has access to a deep seaport, a six-lane highway, and four train stations within its boundary.   Crucially, 86% of Illawarra residents surveyed support the vision for the precinct.   #BlueScope #Wollongong #cleanenergy #technology #defence #advancedmanufacturing #industrialtransformation #investregionalnsw
