With nearly 1,000 people moving to the state of Florida each day, the demand for housing is at an all-time high. This leaves many workforce professionals forced to choose between commuting long hours or moving to another, more affordable area.
By donating to Florida Housing Finance Corporation through the new Live Local Program Tax Credit, businesses can help ensure that these individuals can continue to live local and help our communities thrive.
Recent program data shows that in 2021, Florida Housing’s construction of affordable housing units led to:
• $5.94 billion in economic output
• $2.3 billion in income
• $3.6 billion in value added to Florida’s communities
• 38,042 full and part-time jobs created

"The NHF has recommended increasing grant funding to build a new generation of social housing - particularly for those 2 million children currently living in overcrowded, unaffordable or unsuitable homes in England.
What plans do the government have to increase grant funding for social housing provision, to meet this urgent housing need?"

Last week, PHA held a listening session with area realtors as it prepares to administer Henrico County’s $60M housing trust fund. The session focused on how to make affordable homeownership more accessible to seniors and first-time homebuyers in the current market. Previous sessions were held with nonprofit and for-profit developers earlier in June.
Henrico County seeks to create 150 new affordable homes in the first year of the program, using unbudgeted revenue from data centers.
The median sale price for a single-family home in Henrico is currently $385,000. This program has the potential to bring the cost of new construction homes down by roughly 20-30%.
This partnership supports PHA’s 2024 policy priority of increasing local public investment in housing. PHA continues to work with local governments to alleviate barriers to affordable housing.
Developers interested in applying for funding will be able to do so later this summer.

The impact of Chicago's mansion tax goes beyond what meets the eye. What's the number one issue right now?
It's not about raising more funds for homelessness – it's about the efficient use of the funds already in play. Did you know that Chicago was allocated $52,000,000 for tackling homelessness already this year? However only about a third of those funds have been actually utilized.
We're not just talking about city funds. These are national and state funds, from the federal level! We have money on the table, ready to address the issue, but it's not being used.

As we examine San Diego's housing crisis, we can't ignore the pressing need in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The parallels are striking, with skyrocketing housing costs affecting job opportunities and homeownership dreams.
The San Diego Union Tribune's insights resonate with us as we, too, confront this challenge. Fairfield County relies on the support of organizations like CT Housing Partners, but the private sector's involvement is paramount. It's a call to action, underscoring the urgency for fundraising dollars.
Just as San Diego is seeking private contributions, so must Fairfield County. Together, we can make affordable housing a reality in our community. 🏡💪
