As a parent, there are moments that fill your heart with pride and a touch of nostalgia. Today, I experienced one of those moments when I saw my son Jake Childers pop up on my LinkedIn feed, celebrating their internship Blue Trust. Watching them grow, learn, and now step into the professional world is incredibly rewarding. It feels like just yesterday they were taking their first steps, and now they’re making strides in their career. This journey has been filled with countless lessons, both for them and for me. Here are a few reflections: 1. Embrace Change: Seeing your child transition from the classroom to the workplace is a reminder that change is constant and growth is inevitable. Embrace it with open arms. 2. Celebrate Small Wins: Every accomplishment, no matter how small, is a step forward. Celebrate these moments to build confidence and momentum. 3. Mentorship Matters: Encourage them to seek mentors and also be one yourself. Sharing experiences and insights can make a significant difference in their journey. 4. Stay Curious: The world is evolving rapidly. Encourage them to stay curious and keep learning, adapting to new challenges and opportunities. 5. Support and Trust: As they embark on their career path, your support and trust in their abilities mean the world to them. Be their biggest cheerleader. To all the parents out there witnessing similar milestones, let’s cherish these moments and continue to guide our children as they make their mark in the world. And to Jake Childers, I couldn’t be prouder of you. Here’s to many more achievements and learning experiences ahead! 🌟 #ProudParent #NextGeneration #InternshipJourney #ProfessionalGrowth #Milestones

Venturing into uncharted territory, I summoned the courage to relocate for a transformative summer internship. Colorado quickly embraced me as I delved into the role of a Treasury Intern at Arrow Electronics. The transition from subway rides to navigating the roads was an adaptation I embraced wholeheartedly. Within this dynamic role, I adeptly orchestrated a diverse array of treasury operations spanning cash funds, foreign exchange, debt management, and capital strategies. My commitment extended to delving into comprehensive research across global markets. This pursuit was fueled by a desire to unravel the intricacies of the firm's investments and strategically optimize the risk portfolio for maximal returns. Empowered by data-driven insights, I meticulously dissected bank fee trends, striving to uncover patterns that could drive enhanced cost efficiencies. As my enriching internship reached its culmination, I was privileged to contribute to a project centered on reducing Arrow's Scope 3 emissions. Collaborating with my accomplished teammates Dries Raets, Robert La Trobe, Liz Guiducci, Shreeya Satav we crafted a compelling case showcasing how carbon insetting and offsetting can effectively curtail Scope 3 emissions. Gratitude abounds for the invaluable support of individuals without whom these learnings and growth would have been unattainable: Annette Tedesco, PMP, CTP, Brett Wentz, Varsha Mandiga, Cassandra Fulton, Brian Stanek, CTP,Jessica Hall, Brianna Tuomi, Garrett Lyles, Nathan Bricker, Michael M. Casale This summer journey testifies to the transformative power of embracing novel challenges outside our comfort zones. My journey spanned from subway systems to navigating uncharted roads, from dissecting data to implementing strategic shifts. Each experience, regardless of its magnitude, has been a cornerstone of my personal and professional advancement. As I reflect on these transformative months, my heart swells with appreciation for the opportunities that blossomed against the picturesque backdrop of Colorado. The wisdom acquired and skills refined are poised to shape my trajectory within the realm of finance. Here's to the resilient spirit of learning, evolving, and embarking on promising new beginnings! #InternshipInsights #FinanceJourney #classof2024 #financecareers #finance

Yesterday, I was able attend an info session hosted by the Vanderbilt Finance Club with Point72 and was able to meet with a lot of great people including Brian Mulvihill, CPA, Martin Zinny, and Andrew McEntire who were part of Point72 and I was able to get some great takeaways about breaking into finance and getting a job on Wall Street. Here are some of them: 1. Getting the basics down (doing well in class) Before trying to get an internship at some place like Point72, get your basics down and this includes having a good GPA. This was definitely one of the biggest things that was repeatedly emphasized throughout the Q&A and I think for good reason. The thing is, doing well in school goes a long way. Displaying academic excellence in the classroom always looks good no matter what. While you may know everything about finance, but are unable to show that you can do well in a classroom setting and get the basics of doing assignments and studying for exams down, it can be tough to get an internship because it shows you're not doing the essential daily tasks. 2. Come in prepared. Know basic knowledge of finance. Know what an investment bank is (private equity, wealth management, etc), know what the magnificent 7 stocks are, and surprisingly, know the ins and outs of the website. Although these are things that may sound basic for someone interested in finance, it's surprisingly not and a lot of people come in for interviews without knowing these things only to get stumped by the first question: what is the S&P 500 at right now? Knowing the ins and outs of a bank's website was also heavily emphasized because when asking basic questions that can be answered simply by looking at their website, it shows you're not prepared and don't care enough about the job. 3. Be a stock junkee. Read your finance news on WSJ, Bloomberg, whatever. Join investment club, join finance clubs, go to banks' info sessions, show that you display interest and also do it for yourself so that you can learn more about finance by surrounding yourself with it everyday. These are all definitely things I'm still trying to learn and do, but hopefully this helps you :) #finance #point72 #vanderbiltuniversity #financenews #economic #financeinternship #financeintern #point72internship

We must double down and prioritize three key areas for students to achieve financial empowerment: access to no-cost financial education for students and families; access to financial services; and access to mentors, scholarships, internships, and other career-focused connections. In this Fortune OpEd, EVERFI Co-Founders Tom Davidson and Ray Martinez share insights into how public and private sectors can work together to support students' lifelong financial well-being.

This is a great example of inclusive organizational #leadership! While it’s not always possible to fly every FTE to every event, I applaud the 49ers for setting an example here — especially in the era of hyper-segmentation and favoritism amongst teams. Finding a way to acknowledge the contribution of all employees, whenever possible, goes a long way toward reducing silos, decreasing intra-office resentment, creating healthy workplace culture, and motivating folks to do their best work. #Superbowl #inclusion #culture #belonging
The San Francisco 49ers are using five planes to fly out 800 full-time staff, interns, family and friends to Super Bowl LVIII today.
