Since Dimensional Steps use wetcast concrete, the natural stone textures are so detailed people will wonder how the stone was cut so well. These stone steps are manufactured in four sizes to simulate various quarried stone options, and their treads are as durable as they are eye-catching! #rosetthardscapes #rosetta #hardscapes #outdoorliving #outdoors #patio

When rainfall or water is abundant, the lime from inside the concrete mix or the base material below (such as sand, gravel, mortar base, or earth) dissolves inside the concrete. The water flows to the surface and then evaporates, leaving the chalky covering behind, better known as Efflorescence. But not to worry! There are plenty of ways to clean and mitigate Efflorescence. Check out the Stepstone Website to learn how to remove Efflorescence from your pavers today! #StepstoneInc #OutdoorLiving #madeintheusa #hardscape #OutdoorLiving #Hardscape #YourVisionInConcrete #HardscapeProjects #HardscapeDesign

This photo, taken yesterday, illustrates the strength with which Buddleja grows through masonry and brickwork. Buddleja, technically a shrub, has an impressive seed output (over 1 million seeds per plant), each seed is light enough to be carried by winds, which land in nooks and cracks of nearby structures and take hold even in the most unlikely places, high on chimney stacks, out of vertical walls, anywhere there’s gaps in concrete, stone or tarmac. Once you know this plant; you will see it everywhere! #buddleja #buddleia #invasiveplants #plants

Can I harvest water from Asili roofing tiles? This is one of the top 3 questions I encounter in my line of work and here is the answer. In the past there have been rumors that stone coated metal roof tiles can cause cancer if you use the rainwater. This is NOT factual especially when it comes to Space and Style Ltd's Asili roofing tiles. Our tiles are coated with natural volcanic stone chips using an acrylic basecoat which does not contaminate water in any way. The quality of run-off water that comes from Asili tiles has undergone exhaustive tests and results revealed that NO CONTAMINATION takes place. Water that falls on Asili roof is the same water that exits the roof. Crown your roof today with Asili! ⭐️ The importance of Lime Mortar Pointing ⭐️ Lime mortar is made from natural limestone and has been used for centuries in construction. When applied to the joints between bricks or stones, it offers several critical benefits for historic buildings. Lime mortar is more flexible than modern cement-based mortars, allowing historic structures to "breathe" and naturally expand and contract with changing seasons, this reduces the risk of cracks and structural damage. Lime mortar closely matches the properties of the original mortar used in historic buildings, ensuring a seamless transition between old and new masonry. Properly applied lime mortar can extend the lifespan of a historic building, ensuring it remains a living piece of history for generations to come. By choosing lime mortar pointing, we're not just preserving bricks and stones; we're safeguarding the soul of historic structures. Let's ensure that our past continues to inspire our future through thoughtful preservation. As professionals and enthusiasts in historic preservation, we have highly experienced workmanship on our ranks who are professionals in this field. #project #work #quality #supplychain #teamwork #heritage #historic #construction #conservation #restoration #pointing #limemortar Dave Harry Peter Jamieson Jane E Clark - Formally Bell Tania Knowles Pam Black Tom Clark Ben Harry Robbie Cunningham Tasnim Muhit

Creating Walls The Traditional Way | Unique Stone Masonry For a recent secret project our masons were required to really show their artisan skills of stone facing and dressing. These are age-old methods, like using feathers and wedges to split stone, which have been employed in the UK for centuries. We used virgin boulders and huge slabs to construct walls and steps that reflected the vernacular of the area where this project is located, Dartmoor. Now, here’s the interesting bit… Dartmoor, despite all its granite, no longer has any quarries operating commercially, so therefore this required another level of creativity. We sourced large quantities of reclaimed stone from a demolished railway bridge within the National Park and also granite that had been salvaged from a significant local dam when it was being modified. Not only that, but the slabs for the steps came from the Royal Navy’s Devonport Dockyard. This is an interesting story in itself as it was Dartmoor granite that built the dockyard in Sir Francis Drake’s time all those years ago, so therefore every material we've used is sourced locally and in keeping with the area in more ways than one. The key focus throughout was for sympathetic conservation and the preservation of the property’s heritage. This required these materials and for the teams to use and employ traditional methods and materials. We would like to thank @rose_of_jericho_ltd for supplying the conservation mortars, including a secret lime mortar mix ingredient that enabled us to work through the colder months, keeping the project on track without compromising the quality. #stonedressing #heritagestonework #conservationstonemason #localheritage #sustainablebuilding #bespokelandscaping
