Omnipotence and impotence - by Camilla Block “It is not in our control, projects can die anytime,” as Camilla, co-founder of Durbach Block Jaggers, stated at our event in Sydney. This lack of control stems from a variety of unpredictable external forces that can influence, alter, or even stop projects, making the process of architecture not just a creative endeavor, but also a navigation of a minefield of potential disruptions. The precarious nature of architecture, shaped by these uncontrollable external circumstances, puts a level of uncertainty over every project, serving as a reminder of the profession's complexity. ▶️ Her talk, as well as this interview, are already on our website, linkhttps://lnkd.in/drXXcG65. 🛋️ Furniture by Space Furniture 📸 Koolhaas’ picture by Fabrizio Albertini #architectsnotarchitecture #AnATalks #CamillaBlock #durbachblockjaggers #architecture #architects #architecturaldesign #designuncertainty #architecturaldesign #projectmanagement #designchallenges #creativeprocess #buildingarchitecture

Zaha Hadid was a groundbreaking architect known for her unique and #innovative designs. Her work was all about fluid shapes, organic forms, and breaking the rules of traditional architecture. Hadid's buildings were known for their #unconventional shapes and designs that didn't follow the usual architectural patterns. Here’s why some of her designs are iconic: ✅ Fluid Forms and Organic Shapes: Her style featured #dynamics curves and flowing lines, drawing inspiration from nature. ✅ Parametric Design: Hadid pioneered the use of parametric design, employing algorithms to generate #complex & organic shapes. ✅ Material Exploration: Hadid pushed the boundaries of architecture by exploring new materials and construction techniques. ✅ Spatial Experience: Hadid designed spaces that engage users on a sensory level, incorporating dramatic atriums, fluid spaces, and unexpected vistas. As I proceed with the San Xavier Mission east gate, I did a test piece to workout the sequence for splitting the cross and spacing for chiseling the lettering (IC XC NIKA). There will be a cross on three of the five pickets. The fourth image is a test piece for the finials for the remaining two pickets. Not sure I’ll use this technique but it helps to see it and workout the technique. #architects, #architecture, #interiordesign, #architectualdesigners,#landscapearchitects, #landscapearchitecture, , #artistblacksmiths, #metalwork, #prayergardens, #designers, #catholic, #catholicchurch, #church

Dive into our latest 3D diagram of the Forest Glen architecture project, a vision for a sustainable and inclusive future pioneered by JLB Partners! In this detailed diagram of The Glen, we analyze the intricate vehicular patterns that weave around the project. This analysis plays a crucial role in architectural design, as it allows us to understand the flow of cars and foot traffic. With this information, we ensure that our buildings are not just structures, but living parts of the urban landscape. This approach leads to safer, more accessible, and ultimately, more vibrant spaces for everyone. #MOYAArchitecture #ArchitectureDesign #SustainableArchitecture #GreenDesign #DCArchitecture #WashingtonDC #3DArchitecture #InnovativeDesign #CommunityDesign #UrbanPlanning #AffordableHousing #RealEstateDevelopment #ModernArchitecture

Chartered Architect, specialized in new construction, extension, conversion and refurbishment of Residential, Mixed use buildings and commercial properties , RIBA & ARB registered.
Who founded architecture? The contributions of architectural visionaries like Imhotep, who designed the iconic Step Pyramid of Djoser, and Vitruvius, whose writings on architecture shaped Roman design principles, paved the way for the art and science of creating structures that stand the test of time. As we marvel at modern skyscrapers, sustainable designs, and awe-inspiring landmarks, it's important to remember that each architectural marvel is built upon the legacy of those who came before us. Architecture is a continuum of ideas, techniques, and inspirations passed down through generations. It's a celebration of human imagination, as well as a tribute to the cultures and societies that have shaped our world. So, let's continue to honor the pioneers who ignited the spark of architectural brilliance and keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible in designing spaces that captivate our hearts and minds. #ArchitecturePioneers #DesignLegacy #ArchitecturalInnovation #BuiltEnvironment"

In-between-spaces (especially setbacks between tall buildings) are usually given less priority or even dismissed when it comes to appreciating architecture. Framing a ‘volume’ created as a result of this seperation is no doubt ‘virtual’ but in essence this sense of place is never obvious to the undiscerning eye. What one looks at or look for can never be generally anticipated. However, this is usually its beauty and significance. With interesting architectural forms and planes in sequence, coupled with the intervention of greens and layers carefully punctuated, it reveals a vision that can be truly quite fascinating. ❤️ #inbetweenspaces #tallbuildings #architecturalphotography
