#12thfail #upsc #reality Yet another film after 'Aspirants'. Seems to be UPSC season.! After the disaffection with civil services and upsurge in pvt sector placements ,MBAs in huge demand in 90s and 2000s ,last 5-7 years ,the disenchantment with pvt sector has led to what i think is love on the rebound. For UPSC . A few thoughts on the film and the post below. There has to be artistic license ,else the compelling narrative will convert into a documentary. That is agreed. But. There are far too many lucky breaks though ,for the protagonist. The situations are too contrived to be convincing. There are jarring moments .Like letting the girl believe he is an engineer while in all other places he is a paragon of truth and honesty. Second is the interview-being asked to wait after Board chairman lets Manoj go,then being recalled ...where does that happen? If it happened actually i am astonished. Takeaways are subtle. The sixth attempt failure opening up a tea shop ..I have seen stories like that...the shock of not getting selected led to such crisis of confidence that some found it hard to even qualify for clerical cadre services. Onboard consultants with no coloured attitude ,from services could be roped in for authenticity. 12th fail suffers from this deficiency too.Like when Shraddha sees the result ,how can she know its IPS?Results only show rank.Service allocation is much later. The compulsory medical is not shown at all. Above all ,the film is at the end ,just that-a film.It is an example and a warning in equal measure. The heavy emotional investment ,the demi god stature of IAS and IPS shown is plain fiction. This is a big problem.Pedestalising even while allegedly making a film "based on TRUE events" makes it into a template caricature and dangerous over simplification.Thats where western films score heavily. There are 20 plus services are covered via same exam.Yet only IAS and IPS are shown as THE UPSC in films. A film also needs to be made for life within services...IAS,IPS,IRS and IFS...the over dramatic IT search film Raid ,was a caricature ,inspite of being based on arguably a TRUE event. Above all ,the film remains just a good film after flirting with greatness....UPSC aspirants....take it as a dispensable inspiration if at all u must.

What would you bring back to be made in America? Kudos to ORIGIN® for bringing manufacturing back to America and supporting honest wages for honest work. If Americans are willing to pay a few more dollars for the "Made in America" tag on goods and products, then there is an abundance of creative opportunities out there waiting to begin! Interesting video below about the rise and fall [and rise] of the middle class with a lot of points to reflect on.

Cultural differences matters a lot in international business. For example, I spoke to an EMEA marketing lead today of a US business. We had the usual banter about the perception of the homogenous Royal Republic of Europe. One thing I have always tried to understand are colloquialisms. This video expertly explains such, an infamous Americanism. I hope this "oldie but goody" teaches you something important as well. I have cherished this wisdom for years. This is why you need to be careful with global segmentation and personas. https://lnkd.in/eQi9wQYn

There’s a better way to choose our leaders than a series of simple majority ballots. The alternative is #RankedChoiceVoting, which enables an instant runoff and certifies the winner who has the widest and deepest support. https://lnkd.in/eWfSMf28
