I help R&D-driven companies grow their impact by creating summarised evidence-based content to boost their customer engagement I Founder of SciencePOD
โLast year showed that the digital literacy of healthcare professionals, patients and all the key pharma stakeholders is growing,โ saysย Donatello Crocetta MD MBA, Head of Global Rare & Rare Medical, Rare Disease atย UCB. He is in a unique position to know this because โWorking in rare diseases is always challenging, often because most of physicians have seen only few of these patients and therefore can have limited knowledge of the disease.โ SciencePOD, as a Media Partners withย #Pharma2024, had the opportunity to speak with Crocetta in advance of his panel discussion entitled โGreat expectations, greater delivery: Configure innovative customer-facing roles to keep up with HCPs dynamic needs.โ The forthcomingย Reuters Events Pharmaย 2024 will run from 16โ18 April at the CCIB, Barcelona, Spain. Crocetta believes that โNow, the discussion is more on what experience we want to provide the physicians and the stakeholder community with digital tools and leveraging the power of artificial intelligence." He adds: โWe need to make sure that theย #digitalย experience becomes much better than the face-to-face experience that they were used to. They should complement one another; digital tools should not just mirror what you get from face-to-face meetings.โ And UCB has been an early adopter of technology such as augmented reality using smart glasses, for example, to mirror the experience of patients affected by Myasthenia Gravis. Crocetta explains: โThis allows users to put themselves in the shoes of a patient and experience the daily challenges they face when doing normal daily activities.โ He adds: โWe are using this with healthcare professionals and for our own internal education to raise awareness on the patient experience.โ UCB has worked closely with experts to build a scientific platform called Rare Disease Connect in Neurology (RDCN) which brings together all the critical stakeholders in the disease management: physicians, nurses, patient organisations. I help R&D-driven companies grow their impact by creating summarised evidence-based content to boost their customer engagement I Founder of SciencePOD
Ahead of this week's Reuters Events Pharma 2024, in Barcelona, SciencePOD had the opportunity to speak with Donatello Donatello Crocetta,ย Global Head of Rare Disease and Head of Medical Affairs (Global and Regions) at UCB in Switzerland. I will chair the panel discussion in which Donatello will take part, on 17th April at 16h50, entitled โGreat expectations, greater delivery: Configure innovative customer-facing roles to keep up with HCPs dynamic needs.โ So here are a few of the pearls of wisdom you will hear from Donatello: ๐ The digital literacy of healthcare professionals, patients and all the key pharma stakeholders is growing. Now itโs no longer a matter of if and how we want to evolve in that space; itโs finding the level of investment we want to make to reach the audience. ๐ Now the discussion is more on what experience we want to provide the physicians and the stakeholder community with digital tools and leveraging the power of artificial intelligence.ย We need to make sure that the digital experience becomes much better than the face-to-face experience that they were used to. They should complement one another; digital tools should not just mirror what you get from face-to-face meetings. For example, weโre using augmented reality technology with smart glasses to mirror the experience of patients affected by Myasthenia Gravis. ๐ ย I believe we should be more open to present some partnership across the industry, even in the private-public partnership space. This is especially true for rare diseases where the level of investment of the company is limited. ๐ Companies need to continue to invest with purpose in innovation and new technology (automation, advanced analytics, gen AI), demonstrate value in wider healthcare to build trust with the community and ultimately focus on the โnorth starโ of delivering better outcomes for patients, including a more personalised health experience. And to help you better engage with HCPs, do not hesitate to contact SciencePOD, the expert in summarised digital content assets creation for customer and patient engagement. #REPharma2024 Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/ef76Pj85
