Would a multi-modal GPT-4 fine-tune on textbook content be a better educator than any university program in the world? It's worth reflecting on for a second. My experience tells me the answer is yes. For the simple reason that having a private tutor that understands your individual strengths and weaknesses all of the time is obviously the best scenario. If that is true it flips our education system on its head. Certainly there are other benefits that universities provide. Will education continue to be one of them? If you're a current student you have the opportunity to absolutely fly through school. Not because you're going to cheat and have ChatGPT do all the work. But because you can dive in to AI powered learning before universities have had a chance to adapt. In the long term I have no idea what this looks like... But it will certainly be better. So far it looks like the AI might win and our teachers may find themselves replaced. However, there's a way: 💡 Emotional intelligence, empathy, and wisdom might be the key factors that not only help protect teaching jobs but also serve as our primary advantage over AI. 💡 Thus it's high time to rethink our TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) and PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) training requirements.
