Work At Height Safety Trainer - In Partnership With Group 583 - IWH (Institute For Work At Height) at VISCAR INDUSTRIAL CAPACITY LTD
What should employers do? (Provide the right training to its employees working on any heights) v They should make sure work is properly planned, supervised and carried out by competent people with the skills, knowledge and experience to do the job. They must use the right type of equipment for working at height. v They should take a sensible approach when considering precautions. Low-risk, relatively straightforward tasks will require less effort when it comes to planning and there may be some low-risk situations where common sense tells them no particular precautions are necessary. Control measures Employers should first assess the risks. Factors to weigh up include the height of the task, the duration and frequency, and the condition of the surface being worked on. Before working at height they should work through these simple steps: 1. Avoid work at height where it’s reasonably practicable to do so; 2. Where work at height cannot be easily avoided, prevent falls using either an existing place of work that is already safe or the right type of equipment 3. Minimize the distance and consequences of a fall, by using the right type of equipment where the risk cannot be eliminated. For each step, always consider measures that protect everyone at risk (collective protection) before measures that only protect the individual (personal protection). Collective protection is equipment that does not require the person working at height to act for it to be effective. Examples are permanent or temporary guardrails, scissor lifts and tower scaffolds. Personal protection is equipment that requires the individual to act for it to be effective. An example is putting on a safety harness correctly and connecting it, with an energy-absorbing lanyard, to a suitable anchor point. Meet Kevin Hudson, Damage Prevention Technician. Kevin’s main responsibility is to handle excavation or digging inquiries which keep customers safe and prevents utility lines from being damaged. State law requires both contractors and customers planning excavation or digging work to call NC 811 to request all underground lines be marked. Our locators respond to an average of over 19,000 locate requests per year. When the call is made, Kevin works hard to locate the underground facilities by using a range of different equipment, including ground penetrating radar. Once the facilities are located, they are marked with colored flags and spray paint to indicate the type of service that is underground. #employeeappreciation

A routine drive between rigs became a lifesaving mission for South Texas Field Technician Camron Martin. Camron encountered a fiery crash scene and immediately pulled over to help the other passersby tending to the trapped driver. While one person attempted to control the flames with a fire extinguisher, Camron and two other Good Samaritans rescued the driver from the wreckage. Just seconds after safely crossing the highway, the fire extinguisher ran out, and the vehicle was fully engulfed. This incident highlights the importance of preparedness and staying #AlwaysAware. 🚨 Stay calm if you are involved in or see an accident. If you can safely do so, call 9-1-1 immediately. 🩹 Carry a first aid kit and know basic first aid procedures. 👨🚒 Follow the instructions of first responders. 🧯 Keep a fire extinguisher in your vehicle and ensure you are trained on PASS (Pull the pin, Aim at the base, Squeeze Trigger, Sweep). #safety #EmployeeSpotlight #drilling #AlwaysAware Nabors Industries

Job Well Done? Safety Says It’s Just Begun! Here are some important steps to follow after completing a job: 📢 Notify the operator in charge that the work has been completed. 🚧 Guard the openings to prevent people from falling in if manhole covers, valve pit covers, stairway handrails, or platform sections have been removed. ✅ Replace any covers, platforms, stairway guards or handrails which were removed during the work. The job is not completed until you have replaced any safeguards that have been removed. 🚫 Remove barricades, signs, signals, or other warning or protective devices once it is safe to do so. ⚠️ Ensure that an excavation or trench is covered, barricaded, or roped off whenever you leave the job. #SafetyFirst #SafetyCulture #SafetyatWork #SafetyTipsl #oshasafety #RiskManagement
