We are proud and happy to have Buket Boz Hoffman on our team, who leads the task of pre-upscaling of wet-coated anode and cathode. 🔋 🤔 What does that mean exactly, you may ask? Let's break it down: ✅ In a battery, you have two main parts: the anode (where electrons flow out) and the cathode (where electrons flow in). The anode and cathode in batteries are typically coated with specific materials tailored to enhance their performance and efficiency (like silicone, graphite, etc.) ✅ Now wet-coating refers to a method of applying a material onto a surface while it's wet. 💦 ✅ And pre-upscaling means preparing the process for making a larger quantity of something in the future. It's like a trial run before mass production. Great interview with Tesla co-founder/ex CTO and now CEO of Redwood Materials, JB Straubel, with Daniel Yergin. 👉 It is a completely different ballgame than conventional cars where you pumped oil, refined it and than burned it: The materials in electric cars are not being consumed, but used and then recycled and reused. 👉 All the materials that are imported now, will stay in the regional market. We are building up a feed stock with critical materials, which are going to be treated in a closed loop economy. 👉 Recycling is going to be bigger than todays mining industry, when by the middle of the century, all cars are electric and the fleet is steady state 👉 It is a great future industry and it does not exist yet. It is like a battery materials refinery: you start with a lot of old battery materials, scrapped batteries of all sorts of sources and then process this into a whole slew of valuable materials to feed the industry 👉 Matter in the recycling process contains a much higher share of the materials you are looking for then the materials in mining, where you deal mostly with rocks and a lot more!

⏮Last month, H4C Europe partner ZEDO e.V. organized a webinar with the CORALIS EU project to learn about their demonstration cases of industrial symbiosis. 🔎The project presented two cases, the provision of low-temperature heat from industry to a large #greenhouse and the closure of several material loops in the metals industry in the Brescia region, and three follower cases in Basauri (Spain), Linz (Austria), and Izmit (Turkey).
