I am more than excited to announce that I and Christeven Cohen just won the second prize for the international design competition: Into the Rabbit Hole 2023, held by ARCHIOL. Christeven is one of the best person to work with so far, he has a very creative mind, wonderful work ethic, and someone who dares to be different but with firm basis. Working with someone like Christeven might be one of the main reasons we won this competition. One of the best design ideas that we come up with when discussing the main ideas for this competition is how architecture should be uniquely corresponding to each person's mental condition. This addresses the issue of the competition: showcasing a deep understanding of the relationship between architecture and mental well-being. I am proud to say that our work, "The Journey of Healing", is able to meet up with the issue. We also incorporate artifial intelligence to help visualizing our ideas and to develop our design thinking. Here I attach our submitted document, enjoy reading! Universal Design (UD) is the design and composition of an environment so that it can be accessed, understood, and used to the greatest extent possible by all people regardless of their age, size, ability or disability. By considering the diverse needs and abilities of all throughout the design process, universal design creates digital and built environments, services and systems that meet peoples' needs. Here are the 7 Principles of UD from the Centre for Excellence in Universal Design website. #UniversalDesign #Accessibility

I've just delved into the pages of "Wellbeing Happiness: Architecture Design" by the incredible Frven Lim, and I'm captivated! 🌟 The way Frven intertwines the connection between architecture, design, and our emotional well-being is nothing short of inspiring. In this book, he takes us on a visual and intellectual journey, showcasing that the spaces we live and work in have the power not just to reflect, but to shape our inner state. Each chapter is an invitation to look closer at the built world around us and recognize its potential to nurture our happiness and well-being. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking inspiration at the crossroads of design, architecture, and the continual quest for happiness. Bravo, Frven LIM ! 👏📖 #BookRecommendation #ArchitectureAndEmotion

We can’t enter this competition as Nick was on the organising committee, but maybe you can? If you are an architect who’s been involved in a lot of aged care please enter! We’re confident the new National Aged Care Design Guidelines will inspire and challenge! (This is an amazing way to help us see how they could be better) And if you’ve never had the opportunity to design aged care - this competition may just change your life! Residential aged care design is one of the most important, nuanced and challenging building types. 1. You’re designing all the aspects of uplifting residential design with the added complexity of integrating a supportive workplace that is safe and non-intrusive. 2. You’re designing in an arena backed up by science - and where your design choices really make a difference to quality of life outcomes - where we have good evidence in the areas of environmental psychology, and designing for cognitive and physical impairments. 3. You’re designing for a group of people that is frequently getting the message that they’re the bottom of the pile in society - and are arguably at the most important and sometimes most difficult part of their lives. (Did we miss anything?) Here’s where good design can really make a difference, and here’s a brief that could set you apart… #designcompetition #architecture #agedcare #challengingenvironment #agedcaredesignguidelines #designanddementia
Calling all Aussie architects! Put the National Aged Care Design Guidelines to the test! We believe that these Guidelines support the design of beautiful aged care buildings which are a joy to live and work in. Please enter this incredible competition to showcase your skills and prove us right! https://lnkd.in/gM224K9P If only we could enter (!) I'd be doing the urban setting, and something that: - is boredom-proof - smells good - is flooded with light - is effortless to make your own - you can't help but go outdoors #designcompetition #agedcaredesign #designanddementia #dreamagedcarehome So excited to see the results.
