Great share. Ilya Sutskever is not only brilliant, but I like his concerns about the future of AI. He sounds genuine. Based on his research & accomplishments, I can see where disagreements will happen. https://lnkd.in/eM2QUf-4 The analogy about humans' relationships with animals... was powerful. We never get permission from them, do we? Therein lies the golden nugget: The human element. That human factor is missing. Empathy & inclusion of all beings. I hope that's how Ilya will continue to train the model. In this video Ilya discusses his ultimate goal of artificial general intelligence (AGI), ‘a computer system that can do any job or task that a human does, but better’, and questions whether the #AGI arms race will be good or bad for humanity.

Why are mass school shootings questioned as fake and staged when body counts of children add up? Have you ever encountered your new online love betray you not because of infidelity but because you believed it was expressing human love instead of a deepfake? Have you changed your vote last minute after breaking news of a new policy that ended up never existing? Thinking this through you may question who or what wrote this article. There is the possibility you have given up any idea of a shared objective reality or any expectation of finding the origin and authenticity of what you daily read, see and ingest. Perhaps you and your friends float up on a kind of foam of digital effervesce composed of such deepfakes, counter images of school shootings and murky criteria for real/fake election news. Do you recognize yourself in the above scenarios? I recognize myself in them at times and I often get lost in a flurry of unverified references, inputs and vivid visual and textual dopamine hits to my psyche and body…. #ai #provenance #deepfakes

A lot of stuff to contemplate here. We're entering a time where #ISresearch is looking at phenomena that are at the early stage of what used to be only possible in #sciencefiction. Science fiction has always tried to dive deep into #moral and #social issues that can arise from future #technological #development. I've always wondered if IS research can end up taking theoretical inspiration from science fiction. It feels more each year like that could or should happen.
